The market town of Rugeley is situated in Staffordshire, at the edge of Cannock Chase and adjacent to the River Trent. For this reason, it's ideal for an outdoorsy break in Britain, whether you want to go as a couple or take the whole family.
You can follow a heritage trail that links Rugeley with Hednesford and Cannock and offers some fascinating snippets of history via information boards along the way.
There is also a self-guided Treasure Trail that can be downloaded from the town's website - and the chance to see England's largest working reindeer herd at nearby Blithbury Reindeer Lodge.
For the kids, it's definitely worth visiting Go Ape Cannock to allow them to burn off some energy.
Rugeley has an excellent shopping centre and a number of tea rooms and pubs, as well as a market three times a week.
It also hosts a charter fair in June, a fireworks display at the end of the summer holidays and a Christmas lights switch-on each December.
