The Bishop's Palace & Gardens
A medieval site for all to enjoy, with a breath-taking moat, resident swans, and a flagstone drawbridge.
View and BookThis is a peaceful site situated in the heart of the Somerset countryside, on the edge of the Mendip Hills. It is south facing with views over the Somerset levels. The site is part of a working farm but is about ¼ mile away from the farmhouse and buildings and therefore generally quiet.
Do not be put off by reference to difficulty regarding the country lanes - the farm's suppliers, including large lorries have no problems getting here.
The site backs on to a small wood and is sheltered from north winds. This means there is also an abundance of wildlife - rabbits, badgers and pheasants abound!
The field is level with unrestricted pitches. We are happy for you to pitch anywhere although this will depend upon how near to the electric hook up you need to be. We currently have one hard standing and are considering more but we are concerned not to spoil the natural feel to the site by making it too regimented.
We welcome motor homes, awnings, children and well behaved pets and do not charge extra for them!
There is a nearby public footpath to the historic city of Wells (approximately 2 ½ miles). There are good pubs and restaurants within 3 miles - also two 18 hole golf courses.
Nearby attractions include Wells Cathedral and Vicars Close, Glastonbury Tor and Wookey Hole Caves and Two 18 hole golf courses. We are close to Cheddar Gorge and the Bath and West Showground. The lovely cities of Bath and Bristol are only 45 minutes away.
