View and BookStileway Golf Course, Lower Strode Road, Clevedon, Somerset, BS21 6UU
View on mapThis is a pleasant open level site based at Clevedon Golf Centre which is located on the southern outskirts of Clevedon, bordering the Bristol Channel (BS21 6UU).
The site has drinking water and a chemical disposal point. Other facilities include a WC which is available during golf course opening hours.
Adjacent to the CL is an 18 hole pay and play golf course which runs up to the Bristol Channel on its Northern boundary. The golf course takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete and is available at £9 per round, see Clevedon Golf Centre website for more information.
There are also fishing lakes nearby please ask for details.
There are a number of local public houses, The Drum and Monkey public house is good for food (approx 0.75 mile) and there is an Asda supermarket (0.5 mile away) and a Tesco Supermarket (1 mile away).
The seafront which is only a 15 minute walk away includes the only Grade I listed pier in the UK, ornamental gardens, a Victorian bandstand and other visitor attractions. The Salthouse Field has a light railway running round the perimeter and is used for donkey rides during the summer. The shore is a mixture of pebbled beaches and low rocky cliffs with the old harbour being at the western edge of the town at the mouth of the Land Yeo.
Good public houses at the seafront include ‘The Salthouse’ and for maximising the evening sun try ‘The Little Harp’.
You may choose to return to the CL via ‘Poets Walk’ on Wains Hill (which is topped by the remains of an Iron Age hill fort). If you time it right a spectacular sunset, which Clevedon is well known for, can be seen from Poets Walk on the way home.
Other landmarks include Walton Castle, Clevedon Court, Clevedon Clock Tower, Clevedon Craft Centre, Curzon Cinema and Hill Road which is just 200 yards from the famous Victorian pier and has a lovely array of shops and cafes.
Clevedon is easy to reach just off the M5 motorway and it is also a dormitory town for Bristol.
