Why stay here ...

The Cl is set in a paddock adjoining our home. Level grass pitches are available on both sides of the paddock with hook-ups (10 amps). Access is easy for all size vehicles through a wide gateway. Anti slip terran has been added to pitches and track way to help in poor weather.

The amenities consist of recycle bins, water tap, and a chemical closet point which is on the mains sewerage. There is also a metal bin for used BBQ coals. We have an adjoining grass tennis court with BBQ area and a hut with information on the immediate local area and wider district. Some Tennis racquets and balls are available for use.

TV reception is good here but you will need your own WiFi. EE is the best mobile WiFi in this area.

We are in the heart of the countryside situated next to a working farm surrounded by farmland so dogs need to be on a lead and under control. The village has a network of footpaths and lanes with grass verges which are suitable for dog walking with leads.

The parish of Kingston Seymour is situated on the North Somerset Levels between the towns of Clevedon and Weston-Super-Mare. The shore of the Severn Estuary forms its western boundary. The village itself is a small active community with a population of approximately 400 residents, with an ancient Church and Village Hall around which many of its events revolve. The Bridge Inn, a Hungry Horse Restaurant is situated at the approach to Kingston Seymour and includes a large children's indoor soft play area.

Tesco, Asda, Lidl and Aldi can all be found at Clevedon (4 miles) which also has a range of independent specialist shops. There is a good selection of pubs, restaurants and food takeaways at Clevedon, which is a quaint, picturesque, Victorian seaside resort (pebbles only), with a famous grade one listed pier and the oldest working cinema in the world (The Curzon).

Nearby to Kingston is Yatton (2.5 miles). This has a Co-Op and small selection of independent shops, post office, takeaways, eating places and pubs. There is also a mainline railway station which is very useful for connections to Bristol, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare.

Buses run regularly from Clevedon and Yatton to Portishead, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and surrounding districts. Vehicles can always be parked at unrestricted parking places in both Clevedon or Yatton to use the bus services.

Kingston Seymour village and the wider district are excellent for walking, cycling and course fishing. There are plenty of opportunities for golfing within 3 to 4 miles. The Seawall with views over to Wales is only a 20 minute walk from the CL. Nature and bird watchers will find much to satisfy themselves because the rhynes, ditches and hedgerows support abundant wildlife.

We are excellently situated for the West Country attractions of Bristol, Bath, Weston-super-Mare, Cheddar, Wells and the Mendip Hills. Nearby are the National Trust properties of Tyntesfield House and Clevedon Court. Family days out include Brunel's SS Great Britain Museum ship, Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, Bristol Zoo and the open air heated Lido at Portishead.

4 NIGHT STAY IN AUGUST 2024

Overall an excellent CL with easy access and great amenities, close to the coast and other North Somerset attractions. During our stay we noticed that in the early mornings there was noise from aircraft departing from Bristol Airport which is approx 10 miles due east of the site. This was not particularly obtrusive but enough to wake you up at 0730hrs and lasted for about an hour for 2 mornings during our 4 night stay, and also later in the day. Despite the aircraft noise I have no hesitation in recommemending the CL to other club members.

Beautiful site

What a lovely site, we stayed for 3 nights on our way back from Cornwall, but a one night stay would also be good as it's not too far from the M5. We went on walks, from the site, and also called at the little cafe around the corner, owl In the oak. Lovely little place to break the walk up. Clevedon wasn't far by car or a walk from the site. And the lady who owns the site is full of knowledge. We will definitely call again.

Fantastic site.

We spent 10 nights on this site, It is immaculate & the information hut was a real bonus. Mrs bell was so kind & took the time to chat about the local area, which she was extremely knowledgeable about. Site was level & kept in very good condition. It is very quiet & we didn’t hear any road noise on our stay. It’s very good for cycling. We can’t praise this site enough & will be back in the future.

A well loved CL

We stayed recently for 6 nights. When arriving the pitch was marked out with our name on it. Jane then came across to meet us and explain everything whilst we set up. She clearly cares for the site. One evening she mowed half the site (two of the pitches inc us were occupied and then spent the next two hours raking up the grass cuttings! Her cat is very friendly but beware it does like to explore your van! Access is very easy from the single track road and well marked but beware of cyclists as it is on a national cycle route. Could not fault the site but there is some plane noise from Bristol airport which why I only gave 4 stars for this. Clearly not Jane's fault!. Apart from that was very peaceful. A lovely part of the country for walking or cycling. There is a grass tennis court which was a first for us. A very useful summer house with seats for reading local information. Best CL we have stayed in and we will be back! Great value at £18 per night.

One of the best

We spent six nights on this lovely site in July. I spoke to Jane a few days before we arrived and she said that if she wasn’t around just set up on our pitch which would be marked with our name. Jane has it well organised for when people leave/arrive. Directions were easy to follow from the book/internet and we didn’t find the traffic noise intrusive, in actual fact it was very peaceful. Plenty to do in the local area, we haven’t seen all yet so will go back.

Great for a stopover off M5, but stayed longer to appreciate lovely area.

We stayed here to break our 380 mile journey from Yorkshire to Cornwall, but spent two nights to give us a full day there. The area is fascinating, being the edge of the Somerset Levels, with drainage ditches 'rhynes' all around, and though we visited Clevedon two years ago we cycled in and really appreciated what a lovely coastal town it is. The site is very good, our pitch was marked with our name, facilities were fine, and Jane soon came over to welcome us and check all was ok. It was extremely good value at £15 without any extra for electric. The village is very near the M5, so there is inevitable road noise, but I chose it for its location near the motorway, and the sound is something you can get used to. The Strawberry Line rail trail is nearby at Yatton, and I rode the first section, but we would have gone all the way down to Cheddar had we had longer.

Lovely quiet CL

Stayed for 4 nights, could have spent much longer and still not run out of things to do. Easy cycling to Clevedon and very short drive to the Strawberry line at Yatton. 20 min walk to the coast on the edge of the Somerset Levels. Site is lovely with good spacing between units, that the site was nearly fully booked all through our stay, backs up the great reviews.

Great site

We booked for 5 nights in early August. The site is a little gem very well looked after and plenty of space. the access is nice and wide. just watch for cyclists when coming out. Jane is very friendly. we went home for a week and then back for another 5 nights. That speaks for itself. Nice central location for visiting many places of interest.

Peaceful Site

Stayed here on our way up from South Devon for 10days. It was ideal as we have elderly relatives who live in Portishead and we wanted to visit them. Lovely greeting by Jane after our arrival. Beautiful surroundings and oh so quite and peaceful. We and our 4 dogs visited many nearby places during our stay as well as our relatives. Will definitely stay again next year on our way back up from South Devon *****

A lovely site

We booked this site at very last minute as we were on our way back home from Cornwall to the Midlands but wanted a stopover for a few days more to extend our holiday. Telephoned the site and the owner, Jane, couldn't of been more helpful as unfortunately they were booked up for the first night and there was a maximum of 5 already on site. We wanted to stay 4 nights but lo and behold she called her friend next door who was more that happy for us to stay on a small patch of land near her farmhouse for our first night moving to the CL in the morning. Well what an absolute gem of a find Ballards Acre is, damned near a perfect level field with a easy access and ample room to position our twin axle caravan. There is loads of space between other units, EHU, Elsan point and water supply perfect. This really is a very peaceful site with even a grass tennis court adjoining, sadly not in use due to COVID restrictions. We loved the tranquility, Jane is very friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we were completely happy. We will most certainly be returning here.
