Avon Valley Railway
Now preserved by a group of volunteers, the sound of steam can once again be heard along the Avon Valley.
View and BookAvon Valley Farm CL is located on a peaceful arable farm between the historic cities of Bristol and Bath, in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside, where you will be ideally located to visit both cities and the surrounding area. We welcome adults, children and dogs to our CL, which is made up of a flat field with 4 hard standing pitches and 2 grass pitches, all with electric hook up points and space for your awnings. Each pitch is large enough to accommodate motorhomes, caravans as well as additional vehicles. The site is the perfect base to visit Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park and to explore the River Avon. You can also paddle board very locally or use the Bristol to Bath cycle track which is less than a mile away. We are well serviced with supermarkets and takeaways within walking distance, as well as having decent pubs and an excellent Farm Shop close by.
Extensive footpaths can be accessed directly from the site and will take you to the River Avon or to the village of Salford where you can find a few different pubs, The Bird in Hand, the Jolly Sailor and the Riverside. Flourish Farm shop is about 15 minutes from the site over the railway bridge which was designed by Brunel.
If you'd rather take public transport the X39 bus will take you directly into the centre of Bath and Bristol depending on which side of the road you hop on. It is an excellent service which runs throughout the night and at weekends.
The Bristol to Bath Cycle track can be accessed at the Bird in Hand pub in Saltford.
Saltford also boasts a well attended Golf Club.
Back on site we have lavatories for exclusive use of our residents, bins and recycling, chemical waste and fresh water.
You will see a white one storey building next to the site which used to be the country store where fruit was weighed and sold - we used to be the largest soft fruit farm in the South West! Also a static caravan which is used for farm workers on a temporary basis.
Susannah is your main point of contact and is readily available on her mobile whenever you need. I try not to bother our guests too much and allow you to take your pick of pitches depending on what's available. Where required I will request a deposit to secure bookings and ask that the remainder be made up with cash on arrival. I will visit guest at a convenient time to them.
If guests enjoy a bit of farm produce then we have our own sausages available on request. They are delicious!
We are an excellent CL site to use as a base for local events such as the Bristol Balloon Fiesta and Bath Christmas Markets.
Note re directions: access the site via Pixash Lane making sure you go over the railway bridge and not under it! Much better access and avoids very large potholes.

We arrived to a muddy entrance and grass that hasn’t seen a mower for weeks. There was no-one to meet us or suggest which pitch we might take, although the initial enquiry had been friendly enough. To access the basic loos (2 of, no shower) you had to walk very close... Show more

We thought the access to the site was reasonably good and the proximity to Bath and Bristol was just where we wanted it, however we didn’t take into account that it was yards from the main train line between London and Bristol which ran 24/7. Therefore our quiet relaxed break... Show more
