Located in the English county of Shropshire close to the Welsh border, Church Stretton is the only town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and that's why it's renowned as a great place to go for outdoorsy British holidays.
Walkers, mountain bikers, birdwatchers and horse riders alike will find this the ideal location to indulge their pastimes at the same time as enjoying some dazzling views along the wild uplands.
The Stiperstones is worth a mention, as it has a quartzite top that can be seen for miles around, while the Long Mynd is also a local highlight and can be paraglided from if you're feeling brave.
Back in Church Stretton itself, there are more than 30 independent shops run by friendly locals. The town is particularly famed for its antiques and handmade gifts, so don't forget your wallet in case of a bargain or must-have souvenir.
For a rainy day, it's also definitely worth checking out the nearby Land of Lost Content, which is a museum concerning popular culture and is sure to generate plenty of nostalgia.
