Why stay here ...

Whether it’s a holiday or simply a few days break, we have a 5 pitch site located on the border of rural Leicestershire and Rutland. Whilst the site is peaceful and remote – its just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful village of Knossington and the famous Fox and Hounds Pub.

There are plenty of lovely walks around our farm as well as footpaths taking you to some glorious local spots. The amazing Gates Garden Centre, Restaurant and Farm Shop is a short walk away and can be mostly accessed via a footpath. The roads are mostly very quiet – you are more likely to encounter a tractor or a horse than a commuter!

Each pitch is generous in size with plenty of room for an awning – but blocks may be required. There is an EHU on every pitch. Our site also offers chemical disposal waste unit, general waste and recycling points’ with water points closeby.

Nearby towns:

The market town of Oakham is just over 5 miles away and you can get a fabulous view of Rutland Water as you drive into Oakham. Markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As well as a Oakham Castle there is the Rutland County Museum and the Rutland Farm Park. Oakham hosts a fine array of food and drink outlets and superb butchers, as well as Rutland’s only McDonalds!! There is a Tesco, Coop, Aldi and Lidl for supplies.

Other towns within easy reach are Stamford, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray and Corby

Other places of interest:

Rutland Water offers an Aqua Park, cycle hire, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and day launch permits as well as fly fishing. Harringworth viaduct, Melton Mowbray Market, Twin Lakes (for the little ones), Barnsdale Gardens, Lyndon visitor centre and Nature Reserve, Rutland Water Golf Club, Rockingham Castle, Burghley Park (and horse trials) are all within easy reach.

Lovely site and very welcoming

Small site in the middle of fields. A few pitches are on a slope so require levelling blocks (plenty available). Clean and tidy site. We were there during harvesting so quite busy but interesting to watch. Nice walk to the local pub where they serve decent food. We had a very pleasant stay visiting local towns and Rutland water. It’s a very new site and well maintained. Thank you Hilary for your wonderful hospitality.

Very Rural

Sconsboro Hill CL
Site well situated for those who seek out some peace and quiet in a very rural setting. Well appointed with basic amenities but would suggest you need a few spacer blocks when levelling up

Lovely CL site with EHU, Elson point and water The owner Hiliary is so welcoming and ensures that her customers are well looked after. The pitches are generous with glorious views. The site is in Konssington which is a picturesque Village with a great pub ( Fox and Hounds ) that serves delicious food which is less than a 10 minute walk from the site. The nearby village of Somerby which is beautiful and also has a pub that serves food. The Market town of Oakham is less than 5 miles and we cycled each way .Oakham has many independent shops and numerous good quality places to eat. We stayed for 3 nights and can't wait to go back for a longer stay .

Perfect Rutland area retreat

Sconsboro Hill CL
You won't be disappointed staying here, Knossington village is one of many pretty villages in this area, and we were made very welcome, even when we came last in the pub quiz! This site has peace and tranquility by the shed load, we watched the Swallows swooping over the field all week and the area has lots of cycling and walking for everyone. We cycled to Rutland Water from the site but exploring the other direction, we found windmills and beautiful countryside, including the Harringworth viaduct...well worth a trip. There is an open air swimming pool you can hire in the village too which is glorious. Thank you to our wonderful host Hilary, whose hard work makes site a real treat.

Peaceful idyllic setting.

We recently enjoyed a two night start here with our two dogs. The setting is so relaxing and beautiful. Plenty of rolling countryside and footpaths. A short walk up to the quaint village of Knossington which boasts a very friendly pub serving amazing food. There is also a garden centre and farm shop approx 1.25 miles away which is well worth a visit. The site is really well kept and has good EHU points, water access and chemical waste disposal etc.
