Why stay here ...

Roger and Sara would like to extend a warm welcome to you on their CL.

We are conveniently located in the quaint village of Askham, just minutes from the A1 at Markham Moor but far enough away to offer you a peaceful stay.

Our CL is located on the edge of Askham village and is set on about an acre of land surrounded by hedges, with scenic views of the rolling countryside.

We can offer you a choice of 3 hardstanding pitches and 2 grass pitches with electric hook up and recycling facilities.

Just off site you will find off-road walks ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours and are minutes from our rally field.

A short stroll into the centre of Askham village you will find the Duke William pub serving good food and drinks, a bus stop taking you into the Georgian market town of Retford where numerous shops, eateries, a leisure centre and supermarkets can be found.

More locally to our CL you will find Tuxford village there you will find a Co-op, Costcutter, post-office, chemist, butchers’ shop, hairdressers and Newsagents. Located at Markham Moor there is a McDonalds, KFC, Subway, petrol station and small Waitrose.

Winter walking

Orchard Hill Farm
Efficient and easy booking all by email. Good easy to follow instructions. Site easy to find with good access, we have a big twin axle, can pull off the road before needing to open the gate. Open site, with good views all round, partly sloping and 3 hard standings. Easy access to water, rubbish and chemical disposal all by the barn, and all by using tarmac path. So good site for the winter. Very quite and really dark at night. It's near the train track, but this is not an issue, I did not even notice the trains during the day when busy chatting or listening to other things, train frequency reduces over night and if you happen to be awake you might hear the low drone of the approach and departure, a bit like a gust of wind. The electric was only 10amp but our caravan was able to manage that with the occasional gas boost when the night temperatures dropped below freezing. We did three really good walks from the site using the OS footpaths. Recomend the Thaymar Ice Cream & Tearoom.

Excellent site

Orchard Hill Farm
Used this site as a stopover on our way home to Norfolk from Scotland as it is very convenient being only a mile off the A1. Comprehensive information was emailed prior to our visit. The pitches are very well spaced and there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Didn't get a chance to explore the local area apart from a very nice dog walk just down the road from the entrance. Set on a working farm, this is a very welcome addition to the CL network and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely setting

Orchard Hill Farm
Really happy we found this CL. The location from main roads is ideal but far enough away so no traffic noise, good access onto the CL, wide entrance and secure gate. We had a lovely meal at the local pub just a short walk from the campsite and will definitely return to explore the area more. We were made to feel very welcome with good communication and information after booking, Roger was always available on the farm and was very friendly. Lovely views from the campsite and the hard standing pitches were perfect for us in a heavy motorhome. Good tv and mobile phone reception. Looking forward to coming back for a return stay.

Lovely local site

Orchard Hill Farm
A belated review as I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights during October half term 2021. It is very local to where we keep our caravan so ideal for a quick getaway with minimal travel. Easy to find and a well laid out site and communication from the owners was fantastic. On the doorstep of Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park so great for adventures. We were welcomed by Sara and Roger and despite the weather had a lovely stay. Will definitely be visiting again.

Well positioned new CL

Orchard Hill Farm
This is a brand new CL, which is easily located from the A1, and the welcome we received from the owners for our last minute booking was very friendly. It has lovely countryside views, and a nice looking pub within easy walking distance (not tried). Facilities all brand new and easily accessed. Chemical disposal rinse tap is from a water butt, well separated from the drinking water.
