Noisy but nice

Gayton Marina
We’ve stayed here numerous times visiting nearby relatives, summer and winter. As others have said, the nearby A43 is busy and, if you listen for it, noisy. We’ve never had trouble sleeping. For a CL £26 is fairly expensive but that includes EHU and there are toilets and a shower about 100 metres away. It is also protected by a locked gate for which you get given a code in advance meaning you can arrive at any time. The lanes are indeed narrow but ok for most units. The area nearby is lovely so as long as you understand there’ll be a bit of traffic noise it’s a good choice.

A well run, pleasant site by the canal

Gayton Marina
We have just spent the Easter Weekend at this ABC Marina site. Thought I would give my positive review as there seems to be a few negative ones!. The site was easy to find from the A43 and the code for the gate had been sent by previous email along with our pitch number. Plenty of room to pull in whist waiting for the automatic gate to open (We are 7mtrs) which is only a matter of seconds. Our hardstanding pitch was on grey stones which we have also stayed on some Club sites (not a problem) The grass area at the end was occupied by families with children who were enjoying playing their games and not causing a problem. The toilets & showers were immaculate and although used by the marina we never had to wait. The ladies in reception were very friendly and helpful. We enjoy walking and made circular walks along the canal and footpaths to Blisworth, Milton Malsor, Rothersthorpe & Gayton all very pretty villages with pubs. We did find the free Wifi was only available near the reception, but if you do need it while you are relaxing on holiday take your cup of tea and sit on one of the many picnic tables in front of reception by the canal. Only one negative for us and yes the A43 is noisy but we did not find it a problem either sitting out in the sun or later getting to sleep. You just have to accept the canals were built near to industrial areas and sometimes that will include busy roads and railways. Would definitely return.

OK for a night stopover as very easy for M1

Gayton Marina
We were travelling between Dorset and Yorkshire and wanted an overnight stopover, due to road closures etc we were travelling on A34/A43/M1 so booked this CL. We found it very difficult to find and the approach road from A43 is very narrow. On arrival at the marina we were told the caravan park is further along the road which meant reversing, turning and re joining the road. We had been given a gate code however there is not enough room to drive across the road then enter the code and allow the gate to open without blocking the road. If there are 2 of you the passenger needs to walk over and then once gates open the driver can drive straight in, not sure how that would work if you are on your own or the passenger is disabled. The benefit of the locked gates is it is very secure. The ground is level however it is very stoney. There is water and chemical disposal on the caravan site though reception, toilet, shower and rubbish bins are a short walk through into the marina area. The road noise is VERY loud and although it goes quieter during the night it starts again very early so is in no way a peacefull stay. In our opinion the nightly fee is expensive The journey to the M1 was very quick and easy. Overall we would not stay again even for 1 night

Disappointing

Gayton Marina
We stayed on this site for 1 night in Feb. We arrived late and left early as it was only a quick stopover. Sadly the site is overpriced for what it offers. Signage and access are poor, facilities too far from the parking area. This is more like a car park than a CL. It feels like the owners are trying to exploit the motorhome boom. There is quite a bit of noise from the main road. To balance the review I would say that the pitches are flat, the site is gated, there is dog walking along the tow path and on an adjacent field. We wouldn't stay here again.
