Nice, spacious site.

Braunston Marina
Arrived at site and was welcomed by a very helpful lady, who directed us to the pitches and said where was best to pitch for different reasons. The gate is a bit tight entering the field, so this is something to bear in mind if you have a long outfit. We chose a lovely pitch and the site was extremely peaceful, there was plenty of room for our children to play. The chemical waste disposal on the field was out of use, so you do have to walk to the marina shop to dispose of chemical waste and also rubbish. My husband did say that the chemical disposal point wasn’t very clean but this one was obviously used by the canal boats and also the vans. We would recommend going here as it is very nice.

Inconvenient conveniences

Braunston Marina
Large field, part of which is used for parking by boaters. Price has not been adjusted to reflect the new VAT rate, but showers are still £2 each. The toilets are too far from the site to be of any practical use; luckily I had read the reviews and we took a toilet tent (our micro caravan has no onboard facilities). We had a lovely peaceful weekend break.

Nice sized field with well spaced pitches..

Braunston Marina

We regularly visit Braunston but were looking to stop there in order to make a weekend of our trip. I booked as soon as lock-down lifted and payment was in advance, with printed information then forwarded in the post. On arrival, you do have to go to the marina shop to be booked in and get the gate code. this is a bit more challenging for bigger MHs like our 8ft +, but we did manage it. It isn't a cheap CL site at £20 per night, especially as there isn't anywhere for grey water waste, but if you're willing to take a short walk, there are clean locked toilets on the Marina, something that makes this accessible to people without an on board toilet. We had loads of space and there were plenty of water taps so we could directly fill water bottles and kettles, preventing us from having to refill the MH water tank. The site is right next to the marina and canal and the village is really lovely. If you've not been before, I definitely recommend the area, and for ease of use, will be booking a return visit to the site itself.

A field.

Braunston Marina
3 Nights August 2019. Showers (£2 each) and Toilets require visit to shop to collect then return a key, during shop hours only! No grey water dump for Motorhomes....I noticed others drained on the rather steep pitches. Newish toilet cassette dump at bottom of the hill...not too far. Price is for a good campsite not a sloping field and no convenient facilities. Area and canal excellent and interesting.

WHAT IS THIS SITE?

Braunston Marina
We stayed here in July 2017 on way home from East Anglia, and to use as a base for visiting Althorp. When phoned to book was told that the field was full but space would be found by the buildings. When we arrived, after getting lost, directions in book seem to be arriving from East (Coventry side) instead of coming off A45 West bound, we made our way, with 'van in tow to where we could see the buildings, which are on the marina quayside. A gentleman then came out and said we were to go to the field as there was space there for us. The field is "undulating!", it is also public access and the place where the narrow boat owners take their dogs for exercise and ablutions. The elsan point is along way away on the end of a building on the quayside, and the toilets and showers are located in a former cottage, again on the quayside. The toilets and showers are kept locked, with access with a key. We were not given a key on arrival or advised that one was required.. There were caravans and motorhomes on the marina quayside, with EHU. So my question is, which one is the CL, the field or the quayside, if it is the quayside this would be an excellent little site, the field is not.
