Why stay here ...

The peaceful site was established over 35 years ago on our family farm. It is adjacent to the farm and is surrounded by open countryside. Visitors can enjoy watching wildlife and farm animals in the adjoining fields. The site is well maintained with the grass mown regularly during the Spring and Summer months. Electric hook ups are provided around the site and there are a choice of pitches including two hardstanding pitches.

Well behaved pets are welcome and there are walks nearby, including walks around the farm. Guests are welcome to walk around our pond and wildlife area next to the River Riccal. The River Riccal is also perfect for a refreshing paddle in the summer! We have a small flock of sheep which lamb at Easter and our free-range hens lay delicious eggs which are usually available to buy.

The site is an ideal base for exploring the countless delights of North Yorkshire. It is situated in open countryside between the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terrace are National Trust properties located close to the site.

Both the historic city of York, and the East Coast with its lovely beaches and traditional seaside towns, are within easy travelling distance. The pretty village of Harome is half a mile away and Helmsley, a popular market town with impressive castle (English Herritage), traditional tearooms, country pubs, charming shops, and open-air swimming pool, is only 4 miles away. A lovely self-catering holiday cottage is also available on the farm. We look forward to welcoming you to our site.

Quiet level site, pleasant rural location

Summerfield Farm
This is an update as there has not been a review submitted for 4 years. The site owner is now Mrs Fiona Jacobs. The location is quiet, between the attractive village of Harome, and Nunnington where there is the National Trust's Nunnington Hall. It is a pleasant level farm site with sheep and hens nearby. Facilities are very adequate, though there could have been more information provided on the site. Payment was easy by bank transfer, and at £10 per night was very good value. Helmsley remains a lovely town, with specialist shops, though for a well stocked supermarket the Coop at Kirkbymoorside is much better than the Helmsley branch.

Lovely little site.

Summerfield Farm
A nice tidy site in a very picturesque area. Lovely friendly owners, who were helpful with local info. Short walk from site along river, pretty but doesn't go far as you can't cross over, unless you cross in wellies! Half an hour walk to nice village with very nice pub/restaurant. No bus service so like us with motorhome, you need to drive out but easy drives to Helmsley and Riveaux. Both only short drives.

Weeks stay at Summerfield Farm

Summerfield Farm
Lovely welcome with good information of local places to visit. The grass area would have been soft this time of the year but we were provided with good hard standing area. Nice variety of bird life, we put up a fat coconut & the plenty took advantage which was nice. The country road that passes the site seems to be fairly busy. Not an issue with regards to noise but you need to be careful when approaching with van. Follow directions given by owner & approach from the north. Good phone signal but poor data link. Well located to explore the dales & beyond.

Peaceful

Summerfield Farm
Very peaceful site, located deep in rural yorkshire. Very friendly and helpful proprietors. Picturesque location and, although quiet and rural, within very easy reach of nearby National Trust properties and easy drives to north york coast as well as York and Teeside. I recommend it.
