The World of James Herriot
Explore the original house, surgery and memorabilia where famous vet James Herriot lived and worked.
View and BookHigh Farm CL, Beadlam Rigg occupies a peaceful, remote rural location within the North York Moors National Park, with access to many off-road walking & cycling routes direct from the site gate. We offer metered EHU with 10kWh (our average summer usage on site) included within the pitch fee, free WiFi, a toilet & shower room and we have some hard standing too. The site is open all year around and is hard standing only through winter and the toilet and shower is closed approximately October to March - depending on the weather. We welcome well behaved dogs and children who can appreciate the tranquillity of our setting that other guests come to enjoy. The farm is located at the top of a no through road so passing traffic is minimal.
Beyond the farm the green lane gently rises up to the top of 'Rollgate Bank’ and ‘Potato Nab' escarpment where you can enjoy panoramic views of Ryedale to the south and Bilsdale and Slightholmedale to the North. If you are hungry after a busy day working up an appetite, within 5 miles of the site we have the full range of excellent places to eat from Michelin Star restaurants, exquisite afternoon teas, farm shop bistros right through to good old Fish and Chips, Indian and pizza takeaways. You’ll certainly not go hungry in Yorkshire!
The National Park has an abundance of tourist attractions to offer and is an International Dark Skies Reserve for great stargazing opportunities. Some suggestions of where to visit & walking/cycling routes can be found on our website to help you plan and get the most out of your stay.
Our location is great for:
Adjacent to the farm steading we also have self-catered accommodation for couples and a Modern static caravan which sleeps up to 5 people. So why not bring your friends who do not have a caravan with you or alternatively come back during the winter when you still want to enjoy our wonderful surroundings but could do with a few more home comforts too!
We look forward to welcoming you at High Farm, Beadlam Rigg soon!

Remote location with nice surroundings. Don`t be put off by the lengthy single track access road. Remember that this is a working farm so be prepared for farm noise during the day.
