The World of James Herriot
Explore the original house, surgery and memorabilia where famous vet James Herriot lived and worked.
View and BookOur caravan site is set in approximately half an acre not too far from the farmhouse and is away from the main road. Although we are a working farm it is extremely peaceful with often just the birds tweeting or the odd sheep bleating the only sound to be heard. The grass is kept short and mown regularly on the site. There are five electric hook-ups, cold water, CDP, wastewater disposal, rubbish bins, recycling bins and doggy poop bin clearly marked.
Our CL is an adult-only site further adding to the peace and quiet. While we welcome well behaved dogs, advance booking is required and we kindly ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times, are not exercised around the site but rather walked down the drive. There is plenty of room for awnings but only eco-friendly breathable ground sheets are permitted.
We are a mile from the village of Husthwaite and the local pub and Easingwold is just three and a half miles away, a quaint little market town with all you need.
There is a Co-op and Boots pharmacy, Pubs, Post Office, Library, dry cleaners, Chippy and a number of Coffee Shops. There is a lovely little market on Friday mornings which includes a veg stall, fresh fish stall, bakery, cheese stall & plants & flowers. There are buses operating out of Easingwold on a very regular basis. There is also a Tourist Information Centre with information on all the local walks and attractions round about.
We are ideally situated for a number of activities including walking, cycling, golf, fishing and horse racing and we are roughly 40 miles from the coast with the drive there taking in the stunning North Yorkshire Moors. The city of York is just 20 miles away and well worth a day out. Alternatively, grab a book and put your feet up, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
There are many picturesque villages nearby in addition to the White Horse at Kilburn, Sutton Bank and Castle Howard. Another little market town, Thirsk, home to vet and author James Herriot is just 9 miles from us.
Adults only. Well-behaved pets are welcome!
