Why stay here ...

Welcome to Orchard Bank Caravan and Motorhome Park.

Nestled in delightful countryside close to the ancient fort of Cadbury Hill, fifteen miles south of Bristol. The site is peaceful and secluded, but good coffee and cake, a decent pint and the morning paper are all available a pleasant fifteen-minute walk across the fields in Yatton.

The village also offers a Co-op and an excellent range of dining options including fish and chips, Indian and Chinese, so there is no need to cook if you fancy getting something delivered. We have a list of eating options available in the area and will be happy to recommend something to match your mood!

The site is enclosed by lovely mature hedges and offers five roomy hard pitches in two paddocks. Each pitch includes an electric hook-up and large grass area so you can spread out and make yourselves comfortable. There is a mains tap in each paddock with recycling bins and a chemical disposal point by the site entrance.

We are in the process of developing a bit of a rewilding centre which does include grass that’s allowed to romp away with the season and hedges that are allowed to flower and fruit without being manicured to within an inch of their lives. So if you love the natural world and are not fussed about lawns and hedges, we are probably the place for you. But don’t worry, you won’t be expected to wade through 2-foot-high grass! There will be paths cut to all the important places and a patch among the grass for your table and chairs if you prefer to sit there.

The area offers lots of interest, including the fantastic seven mile beach between Burnham and Brean where you can park and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge are close by with a wide variety of walks, the area is well known for birdwatching including the famous starling murmurations on the Somerset Levels. Cyclists love the area with flat cycling nearby and on the Levels or, for the energetic, there are challenges such as the aforementioned Cheddar Gorge. We can supply more details of places to go. And of course, Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare and Wells are all within an easy drive or accessible via public transport.

As the new owners our exciting plans for the next couple of years include digging a half-acre lake and developing bee friendly pasture to support our resident hives. We don't take the honey, we're just trying to put a few more bees into the world.

As there are livestock close to the site regrettably we can't take pets or children.
Having lived in the village for years, we feel completely privileged to be setting off on this exciting new venture and are determined to make our small but perfectly formed site one of the friendliest and most enjoyable in the south west.

Come and see us! We'd love to welcome you to Orchard Bank soon.

Disappointed

Orchard Bank
We were disappointed, it is a shame that this cl has been negative. The photos on the club website are out dated, and do not reflect the site today. Hedges overgrown, weeds all over the large hardstanding. Grass not trimmed. The site is very near Bristol Airport so you will have planes taking off from 6.00am until 9.30pm. Please follow the clubs directions to this cl to the letter, do not trust your sat nav. Fairly steep slope off the road into the site. £25 a night a little expensive in our opinion.

Lovely peaceful CL

Orchard Bank
This is a perfect basic CL, it has everything you need, 16amp electric, water, and waste, and nothing else. The entrance was easy, so I think must have been improved since some previous reviews. The pitches are spacious hard standing, reasonably level and well drained - it rained heavily most of the time we were there and the pitches remained firm and dry. There are plenty of walks with a footpath directly from the site and there is an old railway line just the other side of Yatton where you can ride all the way to Cheddar virtually all off road. There is a little aircraft noise, but not that frequent or loud, generally the site is very peaceful. The owner Sal is very friendly. We will certainly return in the future, maybe when it is a little warmer and drier!

Despite the weather!!!!

Orchard Bank
This is a lovely peaceful site set in a lovely location for ease of access to surrounding areas! Fantastic pitches - flat and large with plenty of space between them and most importantly great drainage!!!! TV and WiFi good - necessities in the weather we had!!! The owner is lovely and could not do enough for us I would definitely return but in sunnier weather to fully enjoy our time here! The walk to the pub from the site is accessible- but again - not in the weather we have had!! It takes you across fields and streams so very nice - bit muddy this time tho!!! Thank you

Disappointing

Orchard Bank
The site was disappointing compared to the photos in the site description. It was unkempt and uncared for, weeds all over the hard standings and hedges that were long overdue for cutting. Also the access is rather rough, I thought the van would hit bottom but fortunately it did not. The location is fine for the surrounding area and we visited Wells, Cheddar, Chew Valley Lake as well as the towns on the estuary. We thought that for £20 per night we might have had a serviced pitch, so it does seem a touch expensive.

Don't let us lose it!

Orchard Bank
We stayed here at the beginning of October for 4 nights, and after the first night we had the place to ourselves. This was a return visit for us, as we had stayed in 2017 when the previous owners had just completed installing the massive, well spaced, level hardstandings that are still there. At that time it was aesthetically pleasing to the eye, very tidy and well kept. It has changed somewhat in appearance now and was a bit of a shock initially with the grass more natural and the hardstandings dotted with vegetation. On reflection though and having spoken to the new owners, it seems their ethos is more to the 'wild side' of nature which we do support and can see the reasoning, and have no problem with it. The feedback would be that this 'wild' type of CL has it's place in the MH Club network but we do feel the it is hard to justify £20.00 night, and are of the opinion it is a bit overpriced. The entrance is cosy but we managed in our 7.45 metre motorhome and have manoeuvred far worse. We would have appreciated a sign at the fork in the road to lead down to it as even though we had been before we missed it! We do feel it is an underrated and unappreciated site. Initially you can feel you are miles from nowhere, but it transpires there is an excellent bus service (either from Claverham - but less frequent - or from main road A370 (30 min walk with paths) or Yatton) but we found the train from Yatton the best. In fact, Yatton has a lot to offer (shops, pubs - Railway Inn - and can be walked across fields (possibly muddy though in times of rain) avoiding roads from the site - took us 30 mins to get to train station). From train station we went to Weston Super Mare (20 min train journey) and Bristol, and could have gone to other places such as Bath. We don't think the fantastic location to access places comes out on the previous reviews of this site and is not promoted by the owners either. An excellent alternative to Baltic Wharf. Yes, you are under the flight path of Bristol airport but we enjoyed watching the airplanes and yet again we have stayed at much noisy CLs as it is only planes and distant trains - certainly no road noise. The owners came to check we were okay on our first day and were very friendly and welcoming. We sadly suspect that their long term plans for location might not include continuing with the CL site, it would be a great loss and members should give it a go if they are of the kind that appreciate the less regimented all whistles site and can swallow the price.
