Bure Valley Railway
Norfolk's narrow-gauge steam railway to the Norfolk Broads with combined train and cruise tours available.
View and BookA warm welcome for adults only and a relaxing stay can be had on our site quietly set on a 300 acre farm, just 2 miles off the A148 and the Georgian town of Holt with its quaint little shops tucked away in quiet back streets - a must for browsers and antique hunters.
Hempstead Hall and its surroundings are very picturesque with the River Glaven running through the farm. Enjoy a walk around the kitchen garden and greenhouses or on the farm and feed the ducks, chickens and donkeys. A variety of wildlife can be seen on the farm. Look out for the wild deer, Red, Roe and Muntjac are regularly spotted grazing. Barn owls can often be seen hunting on the meadows. Ducklings are a pretty sight wandering around the farmyard with their mothers in the Spring and early Summer. There are also a variety of walks around the surrounding villages and a five mile circular walk to Holt Country Park, Baconsthorpe Castle is also nearby. Recycling on site.
A lovely day can be enjoyed with a visit to the seal sanctuary at Blakeney Point by boat or take a ride on the steam train from Holt to the seaside town of Sheringham. The coast is just 6 miles away with sandy and shingle beaches and is good for sea fishing. There is also coarse fishing available nearby. Sheringham, West Runton and Cromer golf courses are all open to non-members and are within easy reach.
There are many local restaurants and pubs within easy reach that do excellent meals and serve local ales.
If you have friends wishing to visit you, Bed and Breakfast is available in the Farmhouse. We have a double and a twin room.
