Bure Valley Railway
Norfolk's narrow-gauge steam railway to the Norfolk Broads with combined train and cruise tours available.
View and BookThis lovely new CL lies on the southern border of Marsham and Cawston Heath.
Created on Botany Bay Farm, which is listed on ordnance survey maps and possibly dates from the 18thCentury. We overlook the ancient heathlands of Cawston and Marsham, which are now a designated SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). A peaceful and tranquil spot with direct access onto the heath.
There are miles of heathland and woodland walks right on the doorstep, where wildlife abounds. Wild ponies graze on the heath next door to the CL and their little heads often pop up by the fence to say hello! Birdwatchers will be able to enjoy spotting the many species, and if you are lucky you may see the pair of Buzzards who live in our trees, occasionally a Red Kite, and at dusk Barn owls and Tawny Owls. The heaths are managed by Norfolk Wildlife Trust, and they aim to keep the habitat as natural as possible to allow some of the rare species here to thrive. It is the home of the rare Night Jars and the Blue Studded Butterfly.
We have created 5 spacious hardstanding pitches, with ample grass in between for your own awnings and tables and chairs. We supply electric hook up, and BBQ spots. Easy access to water tap and chemical emptying point. We like to be as environmentally friendly as possible and in an effort to tread lightly on the earth we advocate the use of environmentally friendly chemicals in your loos. If you already use organic flushes then we applaud you, but for those who currently do not then we ask that you purchase organic green fluid to use during your stay with us.. They are just as effective as the harmful chemical additives and they are much kinder to the environment and your health, and our sceptic tank.
We have an information hut, supplying useful local information and where Farm Fresh Free Range Eggs are usually available to purchase. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but please do clear up after them and ensure they do not pester other guests or go into our paddocks where our horses graze!
Our farm is ideally positioned, in North Norfolk, equidistant between Norwich and Holt, about 10 miles to each. The coast is around 20 mins drive to Cromer and 30 Mins to Blakeney, 45 mins to Wells. The Norfolk Broads are a short drive to the east (30 mins) and there are several National Trust properties within a short drive (10 mins to Blickling Hall, 20 mins to Felbrigg Hall, 45 mins to Holkham Hall, 50 mins to Houghton Hall and about 1 hr to Sandringham).
The owners live in the Farmhouse on site, and are usually available to assist with any queries. We hope that you will have a very enjoyable stay.
We look forward to welcoming you.
