Foodies will be in their element in the Lincolnshire town of Spilsby, which has been holding a regular market for over 700 years. Farmers and growers from the surrounding area are still stocking it to this day.
All of the commerce takes place under the watchful eye of Sir John Franklin, the Arctic explorer, who was from Spilsby and whose statue is located in the market place.
Much of the local produce is well-prepared and served to visitors in the town’s cafes and restaurants, many of which have stayed in the same family for generations.
The Grade II-listed building of Spilsby Theatre still plays host to various productions throughout the year, with an eclectic selection of genres represented.
