Lincolnshire Wolds Railway
Experience the thrill of the bygone era of steam situated in a beautiful part of the Lincolnshire countryside.
View and BookWe are situated in the middle of a quiet rural village away from the main road on the edge of the Wolds.
Our site is quiet and sheltered, not overlooked, set on the site of a redundant farmyard so we have plenty of space. All well-behaved caravanners and their pets are welcome. There is a 5 acre field for you to stretch your legs or exercise your dog. We have 3 chickens in the field, each with their own character but they are fenced in with a small patch of grass. Sometimes we have visitors in the field, kestrels, the occasional barn owl, munjac and hopefully no foxes.
The site has a flat grass surface with some hardcore base, which aids the sites' drainage. Each pitch has its own electric hook up (16 amps). The electric is metered with 10 units allocated per day and any extra charged at cost. There is one hard standing pitch on the car park also with electric hook up. Pitch 1 has a rubber membrane in the grass suitable for hard standing. There is plenty of room for awnings (groundsheets max 1 week down) and parking your vehicle. We have a shower room (no charge) with a basin and toilet. There is also a separate toilet. There are laundry facilities and dryer at a small charge. In the separate toilet we have a selection of leaflets and information on local restaurants. A book swap operates.
The nearest shop (Co-op) and restaurant and pub are situated 1.5 miles away at the Grimoldby/Manby crossroads. The site is centrally located for touring the Wolds countryside, the local market towns of Louth, Horncastle, Alford and Market Rasen, also for visiting the seaside towns of Sutton-on-Sea, Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes and Skegness. There are quieter beaches at Theddlethorpe, Huttoft Bank and Donna Nook where the seal colony have their pups in October, November and December. You can walk for miles and never meet a soul. Rimac is the nearest nature reserve.
Garden produce is sometimes available.
TV reception is good.
We have a CCTV system, which monitors the entrance to the site offering extra security to our guests.
From the site there are pleasant walks around our village. Some lead to the church and 1.5 miles away is a quiet walk to two nodding donkeys. Carry on along the bridle way and then by the Louth canal to reach the town of Louth about 4 miles. Some of our visitors walk in and taxi back.
The area close by is flat and reasonably quiet for cycling.
We are not suitable for group bookings as we like to keep the site quiet. Fishing is available 3 miles away at Alvingham fisheries, which has carp, rudd, roach and bream.
Free Wi-fi is available.
As we live on site we are always available should you need us.
We look forward to meeting you. Richard and Judith.
