Why stay here ...

Berberis House CL is run by Dave & Irene and is located on our seven acre site that has been laid out with footpaths and planted to attract very many different species of wild life, including our resident barn owls.

We provide leaflets specifically covering places to visit in the local area, including many popular flower nurseries and the picturesque market town of Spalding, offering good shopping and gourmet restaurants. A water taxi connects the town to the Springfield shopping outlet.

Our nearby village of Sutton St James is an easy walk and supports a convenience store, a butchers’, a village pub, a garage with filling station and a gun shop. The pub also serves excellent food.

We are convenient for the Wash and only a 40 minute drive from Sandringham and the popular Norfolk coastline. We are also just 15 minutes drive from the National Trust Peckover House, in Wisbech, where Irene is a guide and Dave keeps some bee hives in the magnificent gardens.

If you prefer to cycle or walk, then the flat Fenland topography, with its big open sky’s, is ideal for you. Many members return time after time, just to sit and relax in our secluded owl box enclosure.

Coarse fishing is available nearby and is a popular attraction.

At the opposite end to our CL site, we have another field that is dedicated to organized rallies holding a Certificate of Exemption.

For the remote aeroplane enthusiasts, there is an airstrip, just before the rally pitch, where small to medium, electric powered planes may be flown. Participants must hold their own public liability insurance with the BMFA.

We are commercial beekeepers and our honey, both locally and other various parts of the country is available to buy. Home grown fruit and vegetables are also seasonally available.

Nice little peaceful cl site

Berberis House
Me and the brother in law with the wifes booked for 4 nights enjoyed it that much we stayed 10 nights in total. Dave & Irene who run the site was very friendly and most helpful. Very relaxing never had such a peaceful stay on a CL site. Toilet was very clean and the site was well kept. We purchased a couple of their home made honey to try later. The road at side of site never bothered us with traffic noise. Will be using again.

Lovely friendly site

Berberis House
We were attracted by the reviews on this site stating that people had seen barn owls there. Unfortunately we didn’t see any. However we saw rabbits and hares close to our Motorhome. The site was well kept and the owners were lovely and helpful. We were able to buy local honey. There was a road close to the site but we didn’t find this a problem.

A nice suprise and an enjoyable stay

Berberis House
Being the August Bank holiday weekend I thought we'd struggle to find somewhere to stay..... but we were wrong - all it took was a quick phone call and this site had space. The booking was simple, without loads and loads of questions. Google maps worked very well and we didn't get lost (always a bonus). The gate was open for our arrival, as arranged and we could just choose where we wanted to park (the owners recommended the Owl nest area), which suited us. Surrounded by trees and the ground was flat so we didn't need to level-up and it was quiet, so we were pleased, There was a bit of noise from the road - but it is harvest time so it wasn't anything to worry about. Yes it's a basic site (but what can you expect at £10 a night), but it had a nice clean loo and hook-up and they were dog friendly - happy days. Will we go again - YES

A lovely site

Berberis House
This was a lovely little site with only us on it, friendly owners. A real contrast to a large caravan site, but enjoyable in its own way.
