Great CL

Thimbleby House Farm
This for me is the perfect CL. Easy access, quiet, pitches well spaced, firm ground, clean, grass regularly cut. and a sensible price, not the rip off bandwagon a lot of sites have jumped onto. So many CLs purport to be quiet but are located on a busy road, not this one, being on a no-through lane. Backs onto a working farm - arable - very little noise and quiet at the end of the day, this stay was right in the middle of August harvest and I slept beautifully. Good dog walks from site, and a half mile walk to the nursery for a carvery. Thoroughly recommend

Horncastle Horse Fair

Thimbleby House Farm
Perfect site to use as a base to explore the historic Horncastle - about three quarters of a mile walk to the town centre. A visit to the Sir Joseph Banks Centre provides a wealth of information about Horncastle’s historic past dating back to Roman times. Site is relatively level grass, with the usual amenities of electric hook up, water and chemical disposal. It is on a working farm so be prepared for activity associated with that - no bother for us. Plenty of local walks around Horncastle and other places to visit further afield such as Woodhall Spa. Site owner, Sarah Frick is lovely. Not intrusive but available if needed. Now we have found it, we will be returning.

Peaceful farm location, very highly recommended

Thimbleby House Farm
Three night Bank Holiday stay. Easy to find, good access , even with a large outfit. Down a dead end, no passing traffic apart from the odd farm vehicle, total peace and tranquility. Owners very pleasant and welcoming, then left us to enjoy our hoilday (exactly as we like!). Well kept large site; five (and genuinely five) pitches on a circular layout with a picnic bench in the middle. Lots of space between pitches. No frills but all basic amenities provided, including electric hook up. Horncastle town centre is an easy walk of just under a mile. Small Tesco, two Co-ops and plenty of small shops. Very pleasant walk along a grass track back to the A158 and Crowders Garden Centre - completely dog friendly, including indoor cafe seating for those with dogs. Saw roe deer and hare in the field right behind our pitch. And lovely to hear the roaring lions at night from just across the fields at the excellent Wolds Wildlife Park, also very highly recommended. We have booked our next stay within a couple of hours of returning home.

Very peaceful

Thimbleby House Farm
This was our first booking with the caravan and motorhome club , we booked for the Easter break quite late and couldn't get into our usual site so decided to check out the webpage , so glad we did . A pretty 5 van site with lots of pitch space on grass . Lovely and well kept but as with a lot of sites grass clippings are a problem . Water tap and grey water disposal with rubbish bins but no other facilities which we prefer . Lovely to see chickens and ducks in the house gardens ( makes me feel at home as I miss my chickens when I'm on holiday ) , would have been lovely to buy fresh eggs from an honesty box as we have in other sites . Horncastle is a short walk down the road , dogs can be walked down the quiet road and there's a public footpath at the end . Co-op and Tescos in horncastle as well as a plethora of charity shops for those bargains . A ride out to one of lincolnshires huge beaches is a must when you are here . Will come back again

Convenient site for the Wolds

Thimbleby House Farm
Stayed on this CL for 5 nights over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The site is very convenient for the Lincolnshire Wolds and we enjoyed a few walks in the area. Located on a dead end road on the North side of Horncastle it is convenient for the town centre and shops. A gravel road runs round the centre of the site and gives good access to the pitches situated around the edges of the site. The site is in farmland and is quiet - a good place for a relaxing stay.
