Why stay here ...

Celia and Garry would like to welcome you to Southview CL, set on the Leicestershire border with Northamptonshire you can expect to overlook beautiful countryside views and see regular ariel display from Kites and Buzzards.

Southview is situated on the A4304 about 8 miles from Junction 20 of the M1 and 5 miles from the historic market town of Market Harborough where the old grammar school takes centre stage.

The site is set out over two tiers and has five level 6m wide x 10m long hardstanding pitches, three pitches on the top tier and two on the lower tier, each pitch has its own 16-amp EHU, drinking water and grey waste disposal point. Our CDP is connected to a septic tank and therefor please use Elsan green or similar. Electric is metered and loaded via a pre-pay card system meaning you only pay for the electricity you use. Alternatively go green and use your solar at no cost.

In the next village (1.7 miles) you will find a dog friendly pub, shop and Chinese takeaway
Within a few miles are several good pubs and restaurants.

We are on a local bus route with buses into Market Harborough.

As Market Harborough is on the Midland mainline you can get to London in about one hour and Leicester in about 20 minutes.

Places of interest include:

  • Grade 2 listed Foxton Locks home to the longest, steepest staircase flight of locks in Britain, if you enjoy a long walk with a pub or café at the turn around point this can be achieved from site mostly along canal banks and towpaths.
  • Market Harborough, the old grammar school in the town centre and close by museum, there are several independent shops and coffee shops as well as the usual chain stores.
  • Naseby battlefield is also close by for the history lovers.
  • Harrington Aviation Museum
  • Bruntingthorpe Aviation Museum
  • Rockingham Castle
  • Pitsford Resovoir
  • Richard the 3rd exhibition in Leicester
  • Space Centre

Also available locally are Golf, Fishing, Shooting, Armageddon and Gliding.

For the walkers and cyclists there are plenty of routes either from site or close by.

Facilities on site ...

  • Dog walk from site
  • TV reception: good

Peaceful awwith great views

Stayed for 3 nights early November, Garry was very friendly made sure we were OK on our chosen pitch. Great views and large level pitches, all with water and ehu on each pitch, Wide entrance on a main road but traffic noise not a problem, bus stop 5 mins walk from site going to Market Harborough which has a great selection of shops. Would definitely return.

Top Quality CL

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Southview CL which we can easily describe as a Top Quality CL . We had only booked it to attend a Speedway event in Leicester ( which got rained off !!!!) but so glad we found it ..... All pitches are hardstanding and have excellent views and it was a delight to see the Alpacas in the field immediately next to us . The CL has basic facilities ( no toilet / shower) which is perfect for us, and the facilities that are provided are excellent . ( EHU / Elsan etc ) Price was £20 per night and EHU was charged separately by meter readings. We particularly enjoyed our visits to the local town of Market Harborough and walks along the canal at nearby Foxton Locks . Garry the owner, is so friendly and full of information also . Whilst we found this site accidentally, we are really pleased and will be returning .

Best yet

est yet South View This has got to be the best site we've stayed on so far. The pitches were amazingly level, everything we needed plus peace and quiet. Garry was so welcoming and come and introduced himself we were arrived. Electric was payment on departure and was so much less than I thought it would be. On departure Garry come to read the meter and was very happy to chat and tell us all about the job he had get everything done to such a fantastic level for a CL site, we can't have asked for more will definitely be going back. Looking forward to seeing the alpacas again.

Great site

Well done Gary for your site Just returned from a long weekend at this site and will be definitely returning So easy to find from the motorway and excellent access , on arrival Gary came to see us and gave us all the information we needed . The pitches are reasonably level and large and flat with water, electric and drains , only slight criticism is the hardcore used is a bit rough , not too bad though. Lots to see in the area and beautiful area and scenery around , well worth the visit Will be back soon

Excellent CL Site

Easy to find with excellent access, immaculate with great views from every pitch which are all hard standing and level with Electric hook up, Fresh Water & Waste water to each pitch, which are a generous size. Garry and Celia are great hosts and there if you need them. Lots to do in the area so great for a short stay or overnighter… or longer, and very good value. A very good CL.

If Carlsberg did CLs………

We’ve been on the lookout for a weekend bolt hole, the kind of place you’d normally drive miles to find, with fabulous views, peace and quiet and with friendly, welcoming people - so to come across Southview on our doorstep has been a real boon. The entrance to the CL is easily accessible for even the largest of units and all 5 pitches have wonderful views across fields and the valley below and beyond towards Market Harborough, and all are hard standing with their own water tap, drain and metered electricity (which in this day and age was incredibly fairly priced). Owner Garry is an absolute gent and maintains the site immaculately. We spent the weekend watching Red Kites, dining at a fabulous local pub recommended by Garry and just enjoying the peace and views. Like the header says, if Carlsberg did CLs………

a hidden gem

We have just used this CL twice in the last week, on the way out and back from the Malvern's, as it is a central point in the country for us. This is a beautiful site and certainly warrants a longer stay. Good size pitches, with all the amenities. The views are amazing, looking out over the hills at the back. Lovely to hear the church bells ringing as this has been lost in many villages, including our own, giving you a true village feel. Very central to loads of places to visit with good easy access to the site, and easy access onto the site. Garry was very welcoming and hospitable, even setting up our electric on our chosen pitch for our return visit, so that we could just arrive and hook up. Don't overlook this CL, its well worth a visit, you wont be disappointed. We will certainly return in the near future. Thank you - Beagles on Wheels.

This is why we stay at CL sites

From arrival on site, Garry was there to meet and great us. Excellent layout with first class service pitches nicely spaced. Beautiful panoramic views from every pitch. Metered electric hook-up which is only right in the current climate. Local walks and great foodie places to eat nearby. Make sure to check with Garry which places are good to eat at. You won't be disappointed and neither were we. Thanks Garry for making my 60th a memorable stay! David & Rachel

Perfect CL!

What a perfect CL! The views are stunning over the valley and there is plenty of space for all the pitches to appreciate the view. Very peaceful, and Gary was super welcoming and had lots of useful local advice. Facilities are spotless and Gary is very fair with the meter for the electric. Foxton Locks is walkable (!!) but you can easily park there too and is a must-visit. Market Harborough is also a lovely town to explore. Wish we were staying longer but will definitely return. Thank you.

A Super Pitch for the price of a CL!

Lovely and quiet CL site with good sized level hard standing pitches supplied with individual: electric supply, water tap and grey waste drain. Great views across the valley with nice sunrises on a clear day. Garry was there to meet met me on arrival and was very accommodating especially over the late change of arrival day due to a member of the family being in hospital. The site is in a lovely part of the country with the up market centres of: Market Harborough (10 minutes drive), Oundle, Stamford, Uppingham and Oakham (30-40 minutes drive) all within easy reach. We will be staying here again.
