A former mill town in Lancashire, Blackburn has been a centre for textile production since the 13th century.
Today, the town is a popular destination for shopping and eating, and options include the Mall Shopping Centre and Darwen Street. The latter is home to some of Blackburn's oldest family-run shops, such as Edmonson's Furniture shop, Ainsworth's Jewellers and Reidy's Home of Music.
Architectural highlights include the impressive Blackburn Cathedral, the Town Hall, the Technical School and Turton Tower.
For those who love the great outdoors, Blackburn has several beautiful green parks. Plus, its location just north of the West Pennine Moors means there are plenty of beautiful landscapes for walkers and cyclists to enjoy.
