Situated in the county of Kent on the Thames Estuary, Herne Bay is right by the seaside and is ideal for families who want plenty of fun days out during their holidays.
It has a two-mile shingle beach with a Blue Flag for safety and cleanliness, complete with picture-postcard beach huts for photo opportunities.
There is also a bandstand, amusement arcades, play areas and the famous Clock Tower, the world's first freestanding example of such a building.
Within the town centre is a pedestrianised area offering an array of shops and eateries to satisfy any palate and budget.
Other Herne Bay highlights include an off-shore World War II sea fort, the remains of a Roman fort, Wildwood Discovery Park, Reculver Country Park and Herne Mill.
You could also check out the ten-day Herne Bay Festival if you happen to be visiting in August.
