Why stay here ...

We are a rural, small, friendly, family-run site, nestled between the Golden Valley and the Black Mountains. Based on top of a hill, surrounded by farmland, we have the most amazing sunrises and sunsets, in a peaceful setting, with the sounds of nature and the most amazing star-studded skies on a clear night.

Penylan Farm is home to the Culpin Family, the award-winning Ty Gwyn Cider and five star accredited, Ty Gwyn Holidays. Facilities include a licenced bar with WiFi, indoor and outdoor seating, table football, bookshop and a plumbed in toilet and shower. Free tasters are available to help you decide whether you like cold sparkling ciders or still draught cider straight from the vat. We also sell local ales, wine, gin, apple juice, soft drinks, snacks and preserves. If you visit in the autumn you may discover one of the best farming smells as Alex presses the cider apples!

The Cider Site is secluded with four pitches and panoramic views of the magnificent countryside. Uniquely located with an outlook across the Monnow Valley, we are perfectly located for walking, kayaking, fishing, cycling, or something a little different such as wild swimming, gin making, axe throwing, blacksmithing or llama trekking! Perfectly placed between two historic market towns; Hereford and Abergavenny, we are also ideally located for shopping, visiting castles, churches, abbeys, Hereford Cathedral, visiting beautiful gardens, farmers markets or seeking out delightful gastro pubs.

Not one but three traditional, dog friendly country pubs are within walking distance. There is also a local chippy, two village shops and a cafe available within minutes. There are public footpaths opposite and adjacent to the site and with an ice cream farm, village pubs and the Monnow river to keep you company, it can be easy to go further than your original plans.

Both Garway and Ewyas Harold Common are a stone’s throw away, with a warren of walks to explore, bountiful native flora and fauna and you may even bump into a wild pony or two. The stunning Skirrid, Sugar Loaf and Black Mountains can be seen from the farm, all fantastic peaks to explore. Offa’s Dyke, The Wye Valley Walk and Pen Y Fan along with the rest of the Brecon Beacons, home to waterfalls and breath taking walks are all close by. There is a wonderful canal that links Abergavenny and Brecon, with a wonderful round walk or two from the quaint town of Crickhowell. You can walk, cycle, or perhaps hire a boat for the day?

So to sum up, whatever your preferred tipple, and whether you’d rather spend your day mountain hiking or sightseeing, the Cider Site has something for all to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Booking our pitch was straight forward and communication from Laura was very efficient and informative. We arrived and were the only ones on site so although we had been allocated a pitch we were also offered a choice. The views are magnificent and as the weather turned to heavy rain... Show more

Far from the madding crowd

A tranquil night's stay, escaping the crowds on a bank hol's weekend. So wonderful not to hear traffic, just the hoot of an owl and train in the distance. Laura was very welcoming, lots of thoughtful touches on the site. Went to nearby Kentchurch Hall gardens, keeping with the 'away... Show more

Most welcoming owner ever.

Laura could not have been more accommodating. We had a leak so no running water and she let us use the sink in their porch! Also came to wave us goodbye and ask if everything was ok. The views are outstanding. The fields have become very boggy due to the... Show more

Excellent Cider and views!

We decided not to travel too far from Bristol for Coronation Weekend, we know the area quite well as we're keen cyclists. I picked Cider Farm as reasonably priced (we don't need or want to pay for ehu) and the view looked great, especially as the forecast wasn't great it... Show more
