Stroud is a delightful town with its wide array of independent shops and highly-acclaimed farmer's market. It has even earned the title the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds from Jasper Conran.
The town is surrounded by attractive valleys made famous in Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie, while its industrial heritage is still highly visible, through the textile mills that still operate here, making the cloth for Wimbledon's tennis balls and snooker championship cloth.
Stroud also offers fine walks along the Stroudwater Canal and those delving further into its history can enjoy walking its town heritage trail or visiting the Museum in the Park, which features a superb walled garden.
