Go Ape - Chelmsford, Hylands Park
UK's No.1 Forest Adventure. Fly down zip-wires, leap off swings and tackle crossings across amazing scenery.
View and BookOur CL is a quiet site, surrounded by sheep or cattle, set on a smallholding within walking distance to Hylands Park for the many events that are held there annually or just for walking the rest of the year!
We are 2.5 miles from Chelmsford train station or 3 miles to Ingatestone train station both with direct links to Stratford and Central London within 20 minutes so we have easy access to both Essex and London but are outside the LEZ and are surrounded by countryside.
We also have good road access being situated midway between the A414 and the A12. We are not within easy walking distance to a bus-stop as we have no pavements near us.
We welcome adults, children and well behaved dogs. Each pitch has electric hook up and plenty of room for an awning if required. There is a stream that runs along the bottom of the field.
We live on site but also have an honesty box for payment and are always available by telephone if a member has any problems at all.
Our showers and toilets are well maintained and easy to access and our WiFi is of good quality.

Stayed here for a few days last week. Firstly let me say that this site is pretty and small. Surrounded by fields on one side. Though it was mostly nice periodically the road noise was quite bad. The really disappointing thing about this site and in my opinion spoils it, is... Show more

Stayed one night as the site was conveniently located for getting to Harlow the following day. Spacious pitches, clean loos and showers. Added bonus of a washing up area too... hadn't had that at the other CL sites this week so it was quite nice not to bend over a bucket to... Show more

We stayed on a hardstanding pitch, the field is closed at this time of year as its soaked and we knew that before arrival. We had a nice slightly elevated hard standing pitch and pitched so we had a lovely view of the fields, sheep and trees. There's industrial units... Show more

We stayed at Bumpstead’s Cottage CL for 2 nights following lockdown. Access is very easy from either the A12 or A414 although you need to look our for the C&MHC sign otherwise you’ll miss it. It’s a big field for only 5 pitches so you won’t feel hemmed in. The... Show more

I came to Essex to visit a friend and this was the nearest CL. Easy to find although it could do with a sign as you come round the bed to show that its on the right as it’s not easy to see. I went straight past and luckily there... Show more

Graham and Jenny are a great couple and made us feel very welcome. The site was easy to find and in a great location for exploring Essex countryside and Chelmsford. We loved our two weeks stay. We biked into Chelmsford several times from the site along the river via Writtle.... Show more

Site very close to Highlands Park which was great for us. They had EHU and Water and usual chem disposal points but the site wasn't very level - slanted down to a stream, although we were spaced out enough that we could move our vans to whichever angle made us... Show more

Despite booking well in advance, we were put outside the site on an adjoining field. Site quite industrial and a disappointment.
