Why stay here ...

Horndon-on-the-Hill is a lovely historic village situated in Thurrock.  Our site is peaceful, has 5 level pitches with EHU and is set in an old orchard with horse paddocks on three sides. Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Our site is kept clean and tidy and you'll find recycling bins on site.

The village centre is a 10 minute walk via a footpath and has a convenience store, post office and a butchers. There are also two pubs, one of which is a 15th century coaching inn which serves good food and beer - and its down hill on the way back!

The site is convenient for access to the M25 and Dartford crossing for both Lakeside and Bluewater shopping centres. You can also easily access London via overground trains from nearby Stanford-le-Hope or Laindon or underground trains from Upminster (12 miles). The ExCel Exhibition Centre in London Docklands is 21 miles away via the A13. Port of Dover and Folkestone is 70 miles away.

Nearby attractions include Tilbury Fort and Coalhouse Fort; Essex Wildlife Trust at Langdon, Thameside Nature Park which has a visitors centre with views of Thames estuary, and Hanningfield Resevoir which also has a visitors centre and cafe.

Days out may include RHS Hyde Hall; Battlesbridge antiques centre; Leigh-on-Sea and quaint Old Leigh. Southend-on-Sea, a traditional seaside town, has the longest pier in the world and two theatres; Chelmsford, the only city in Essex, has a Cathedral, Shire hall and museum; and Colchester is a walk through 2000 years of Britain's eventful past.

Essex has rural escapes, culture, history and 350 miles of coastline to explore.

Very peaceful site.

Stayed for three days to attend our daughters dance show in Basildon. Only our second stay away since getting our Moho. Very quiet spot among the horse paddocks with just the sounds of nature. All facilities as described with absolutely no complaints. Will definitely be booking further stays.

Nice little site.

Nice little site, some sound from the A13 Road noise, but it did not bother us! Two pubs near by, with food. There is a toilet on site, we did not use it so no comment on that, also the field is level. We will be returning.

Village location
