Yes, we did take previous reviews into consideration when deciding to stay at Crockwell Park. It was the regular bus service in and out of Torquay that trumped the reviews and also being out of season, fewer sites were open in that area. Well, sadly it appears that nothing has changed. Toilet/shower facilities are always a special bonus on a CL, but preferred our Moho facilities on this occasion. Plenty of pitches with dedicated water and EHU, but a challenging gradient onto and off the grass site. Countryside views lovely, but lost when pitched down in the grass area, the advantage of which drowns out noise of passing quarry lorries which did not bother us at all. And still no sign of a Moho drive over grey waste point. Owner’s beautiful dog escaped into the CL which has been mentioned on previous reviews, but not a problem for us as we don’t have a dog. Relatively new to touring we have stayed at many and varied CLs and really enjoy them, even the most basic sites with only fresh water and cassette cleaning available. Crockwell Park is one of the more expensive CLs we have encountered at £25 per night, which seems disproportionate for a tired looking site that has so much potential. We have corresponded with the owner on the above and other isolated issues. Apparently the toilet/shower arrangement is temporary and planning permission has been requested for better facilities. Didn’t get an answer on where to find the Moho drive over grey waste facility despite asking twice. Owner hopes if/when we visit again to have rectified these problems. Note; we didn’t use the bus service at all in the end! We walked and cycled in and out of Torquay and had the odd lift from family.

We have stayed on many CL's but this is certainly not one of the best! Lovely view from one side of our MH but untidy shabby on the other. £20 a night is well overpriced as facilities very basic, shared portaloo/shower in which the shower was not working. The owners were never around to talk to but when contacted by phone just said shower was broken, but no offer to reduce price for us. We will not be hurrying back to this site.

Having stayed at many CL sites this is not among our top sites. With only two level pitches with hard standing the rest were on grass slopes, with steep access and caravans could not be levelled properly due to the steepness. During our stay one caravan had to be towed off as the slope was too steep on wet grass to be moved by a standard car We were woken every morning at 7am by lorries going to the nearby quarry, after which the road was busy all day. The dogs in the nearby boarding kennels started a cacophony of barking at 8 am which went on all day until about 5pm There is no where on or near the site to exercise or walk dogs and the road is too dangerous to walk along, also one of the owner's dogs was on the loose on the site several times causing a nuisance and the place smelt badly due to several horses and their exercise yard being in close proximity. Disposal of WC waste was down an open toilet (no flush facility) in a covered box enclosure to one side of the site and rubbish disposal was in a disorganised pile of boxes outside the front gate. We feel it is overpriced for the facility. The view was good, right onto the railway line and lovely countryside beyond.

must start with the good bit, it is handy for torquay and the surrounds. now the rest. no real worries with the toilet, it was clean. it is a plastic portaloo, sink and shower all in, so it is functional. if you want comfort it is not for you, you will need your own soap and paper as there are no provided basics. the site has two hard standing pitches at the top, or supposedly 5 grass down a very steep slope, we had to be towed out on a dewy morning. if anyone pitches incorrectly at the bottom, which happened on our stay then it becomes a 4 pitch grass slope, two fairly level, two needing lots of wedging. we moved from here on to a £16 a night site in kent...superb. at £20 crockwell i am afraid is not for us, very dissapointed. .

Have just returned from a holiday with our granddaughter and two dogs. Lovely site, easy access to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmoor surrounding coastline and Dartmouth. Near to the town of Newton Abbott and Kingkerswell. Supermarkets close by. The site has a very relaxed feel to it. Lovely to see the horses and other animals running free. Very well priced with electric, TV point, WIFI, shower and toilet ( basic shower but was adequate, would not suit everyone but you can always use your own facility ). Also your own water tap. We would not hesitate to book the site again should we return to the area. Many thanks Michael and Rosemary

The owners were helpful, friendly and responsive when making the booking and, although not present when we arrived, came round later to check that all was OK. The site is conveniently placed with good road access to local sites and towns of interest. Although the site has good views over the countryside, it does look a bit scruffy on arrival. There is no drive over waste disposal as mentioned on the website and the loo and shower (just the one) are in the same portaloo and use the same floor with just a curtain separating them. It would make the site more attractive if the building yard was fenced off..

Once again a great place to stay. We come here at least twice and sometimes three times a year, which we have done so for the past four years or more. Dave, the owner is very helpful and will give you any info you need on what to do and where to eat. I don't really understand why there are some negative reviews on here, I suppose there is no pleasing some people! Maybe, they would be better off in a hotel. They have a small playpark for kids and a few chickens wondering about. Also, a goat and some horses that I think are his partners and of course there are his dogs which are very friendly. All in all a great place to stay if you want a quiet place in the countryside near things to do (with a car really although I think there is a bus that runs by and takes you into town etc. Enjoy

Fantastic Campsite in a stunning location. Views for miles of rolling hills and plenty of space, even for large motor-homes like ours. Owners are very welcoming & helpful. The large portaloo style shower is fantastic! very warm and well lit at night. All pitch's have EHU and TV booster Ariel sockets (essential here in the hills) with perfect TV reception. Water points also readily available on each pitch. My children particularly enjoy the friendly animals that are on site, and the friendly horses and pony enjoy a carrot or two from them! We love this site, will definitely return! Highly recommended. Thanks Dave :)
