Tranquil, peaceful and easy to get to

Whitwell Farm

This off grid site is located in easy access to the main A road via a sizeable lane. The last (barely metalled) access lane is about 400m and slightly uneven but really not a problem. For the most part, the only noise is chirping birds. Deer frequent along with squirrels, pheasants and dragonfly. The mix of the sea view and rural Devon fields and woodlands makes for a lovely setting. The site is essentially set on a 'dead-end' lane, however (slow moving) cars do pass the back of it from time to time with dog owners taking thier animals to the nearby woods for walkies. I'm no dog lover, but I can see that this site would be great for those who have them. Every town has them, so very occasionally you here the local boy racer charging through the A road, but it is very occasionally. Facilities are basic and functional consisting of a drinking water tap, assorted bins and a remote (well placed) waste disposal outlet with its own tap. The field is nicely attended to, its only very minor downfall is its holds the water slightly, so if its rained heavily for a few days, then I'd recommend access by AWD or 4X4s only but should be fine through the summer months. We've been here on our own for several days and I cannot understand why it is not more popular. Just a thought (or wishful thinking), maybe if the owner advertised it as 'no dogs and no kids' it would do better.

Lovely little site

Whitwell Farm
Just a strip of well looked after grass on top of a hill. Just bins and a tap. Very peaceful, well back from the main road. Amazing view out over the sea, space for about 6 or 7 outfits. Follow the directions and you have to go down a bit of a bumpy track but it's not a problem. Absolutely perfect if you want a peaceful spot with a nice view. Definitely coming back. The directions are for coming from Colyford and its the first gate on the right not second but it well signposted.

Do not stray from the directions

Whitwell Farm
Lovely site with stunning views. Loads of space for 5 units. Do not go to the Whitwell farm address or postcode. This is about 3 miles from the cl field. This will take you down extremely narrow lanes. Go to Jobbles lane via the directions and it’s an easy access route. Stray off these directions at your own risk as every road around the cl is very tight and narrow. Stayed here for 5 nights and it seem the owner. Water and waste are east to find though.

We will be back.

Whitwell Farm
Stayed on this site as our first choice was full. We were very impressed. The field is large with fantastic views. As it is down a bumpy track, there is no road noise. There are lovely walks in the woods, local places of interest especially the Seaton trams nearby. The tram ride is a must. As the site is open all year we would like to come in the autumn but keeping warm with no hookup may be a problem.
