The village of Hartland is situated in the English county of Devon and can lay claim to being the most north-westerly settlement in the county.
It offers some spectacular views along its rugged coastline, not least from the wild headland known as Hartland Point, making it an excellent destination for anyone who likes a good walk.
Other highlights include Hartland Quay with the Shipwreck Museum, Hartland Observatory and Hartland Abbey, the last such building in the country to be dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539. A family still lives there, but the grounds are opened to the public each summer for the outdoor theatre programme.
Within the village, you'll be able to enjoy browsing the local craft shops and independent boutiques as well as getting a bite to eat in a traditional cafe or restaurant.
