The Heights of Abraham
Tours of famous show caverns, a fossil factory, rock shop, walks, play areas and Victorian Prospect Tower.
View and Book0ur CL is set on a 35 acre hill farm in the beautiful Derwent Valley, a part of the Derwent Valley Mills world heritage site. We are a tranquil relaxing location surrounded by magnificent countryside. All our pitches are level and individual with shrubs and planted banks separating each. Each pitch has all weather surfacing with grass gridsand we are open all year round!
The site is on the door step to the most popular attractions found in the peak district. Please check out the days out info on the Club website!
Dogs are always welcome, we have woodland walks straight from the site as well as numerous others nearby. We have a wild flower meadow adjacent to the site with walking strides and picnic areas.
Real ale pubs and local produce restaurants are also nearby as well as the very popular tourist areas of Matlock bath and Matlock, a former spar town. Take a cable car ride or explore the caverns all within 2 miles of the site.
Matlock offers a major supermarket and quality shopping; the local village has a shop with everything! There is a bus stop at the end of the lane to the site and an award winning heritage train station on a branch line 1.5 miles down the valley.
Coarse and game fishing is available locally. Water sports can be found at Carsington reservoir around 15 minutes away by car.
The perfect location to explore the serenity and beauty of the Derbyshire Dales.
'Grass grid pitches provide an all year round surface. Pitches sometime get a little muddy on the top surface in the height of Winter'

We stayed in November and it was perfect! This site is so well looked after and probably the best maintained site we have stayed at, and still at a great price. There are so many walks from the site and we walked in to Cromford along the canal... Show more

What a beautiful location. Four peaceful nights spent at this site. The site owner Michael was very accommodating, providing easy route directions and being amenable both with friends travelling in our party who changed their mind twice on how long they were staying and allowing us to stay... What a lovely site! It is so well cared for and all the facilities are well maintained. We had a magnificent view across the valley and enjoyed morning and evening sun. Our dog loved the woodland walks from the farm and exploring further afield on the High Peak Trail. There... Show more

We have just enjoyed a most welcome return visit to this lovely CL. Always one of our favourites, and we got some great weather as well for what was primarily a cycling trip for us. Full details around land slip road closure supplied before our booking, so we knew what... Show more

We chose Splash Farm as it had featured in the club magazine and were pleased with the way Michael handled our reservation. I am surprised at some review comments regarding the road closure. The club recommends checking things before departure and an email to Michael resulted in a detailed response... Show more

First we weren’t advised of the local road closure which we found afterwards that the road had been closed for over 2 years, but no information regarding this was passed on before arrival. On arrival we were met with a note on the gate to take one of three pitches which... Show more

We stayed at Splash Farm for 4 nights in mid-October 2021. As others have said, the site is compact but most of the pitches have hedging that gives a certain amount of privacy. The access into the site looks a bit daunting but is actually fine, if a little tight.... Show more

We didn't have a great start to our stay as we arrived from Ashbourne direction, through Cromwell to find the Lea Road was closed so we had to turn around and take a long detour to access the site. Clearly not the fault of the CL although perhaps a prior... Show more

This was the first CL that we have stayed on and what a pleasant surprise. A well made tarmac and hardcore drive winds up the hill to it and the pitches are private and well spaced out. Each pitch has its own tap and TV plug in via a free... Show more
