Step aboard a heritage steam or diesel train for a fantastic day out between Wirksworth and Duffield.
View and BookSleepy Hollow has spacious 7m (21 feet) wide hardstanding pitches suitable for caravans/ motorhomes with awnings. The pitches have EHU and the site has a toilet and shower and is a 1 mile walk to the town of Wirksworth. Dogs are welcome onsite and there are walks direct from the site. There is also plenty of space for BBQ’s.
Wirksworth has many hidden gems – Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway, the star disc, the Heritage Centre, the National Stone Centre, the Hidden Garden as well as numerous pubs to cater for all tastes – real ale, live bands, good food, dog friendly – whatever suits your needs! In addition to this Wirksworth is renowned for its art and craft so you will find boutique art shops – when you need a break, have a breather in one of the numerous coffee shops or French Bistro.
There are also cash machines and a Co-op (with fuel station) should you need cash or pick up supplies, not forgetting a variety of takeaways.
If you enjoy the outdoors, the High Peak Trail can be picked up a mile from the Caravan Site at Middleton Top, cycle hire is available there, and there are many short and longer walks around the area. Carsington Water is a quick drive (or walk) for those wanting to walk/ bike/ run around it (1/2 miles away from site). The visitor centre there also offers water sports from paddleboarding to sailing and trout fishing.
5 minutes further afield and you can be visiting Cromford and Richard Arkwright's mills for those wanting to know more about the history of the area, and for the book worms – Scarthin bookshop is a must in Cromford (as are the cakes in the café there!)
Matlock, Belper, Ashbourne and Bakewell are close by – and there are bus routes from Wirksworth that can take you there. Historic houses such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall are all in easy reach.
Both well-behaved children and dogs are most welcome. We look forward to welcoming you to our site.

Lovely site, great welcome from Helen. Facilities clean and functional, lots of space, great dog walk in adjacent fields. 15 minutes walk to Winksworth across fields, a bit longer coming back as uphill! Only slight issue is the daytime road noise, not excessive but always there, no problem at night.

This is our preferred style of CL. Good pitches. Great facilities, with one of the best hot water supplies we've ever encountered. ( Perhaps a little rustic for some?) A great area, with Carsington Waters close by for water sports and bird watching. Matlock Bath is well worth the visit,... Show more
