Quiet site in a great location

Barlborough Links Golf Club
We stayed here to be local to family whilst visiting. The site is just a couple of minutes from J30 of the M1 so is easy to get about and visit some local attractions (if you have kids then Magna Science Centre is worth a trip) the site itself is next door to a large dog friendly garden centre which has a nice cafe and small soft play for the kids, as well as some other small shops. These are easy to walk to, and there is a pub a 2 minute drive away. There are 4 pitches, Elsan point, fresh water tap and a basic toilet which is cleaned daily (no showers), you’ll need a 25m hook up cable for one of the pitches, the rest are all pretty close. The pitches are surrounded by a small fence, and we had a great view of the fishing lake next to the 9th hole of the golf course, which also includes a driving range, footgolf and a small coffee shop. The site is very peaceful, once the golf club closes you don’t see or hear anyone, and access after hours is via a gate code, we felt very safe at night. There is no WiFi here and signal on O2 was pretty poor, but we did get excellent 5G on Three (other networks not tested). Overall a convenient stay in a safe location with lovely views.

Lovely stay

Barlborough Links Golf Club
We had a really enjoyable couple of nights here, golf and fishing were both great! The owners were very welcoming, even though it was raining on arrival Fran came over to the pitch to point out where everything was and there was a handy information leaflet waiting for us. The first review was correct about the pitch surface not being particularly suitable but it is a work in progress, they're hoping to have hardcore installed soon and didn't realise deep gravel isn't good for manoeuvring units or pegging down awnings. Not sure why the other review mentioned needing a long lead for the EHU as all pitches were close enough for a normal length lead imo, there isn't a dedicated motorhome point but I wouldn't expect that on a CL and the tap was within easy reach of the roadway if you needed to fill your water tank? The elsan was next to our pitch but screened off and had a lid, it wasn't an issue for us but I'd probably put a couple of fence panels between pitch 1 and the access to it to section it off and create some privacy? You could hear a faint noise from the motorway but again it didn't affect our stay, we'd definitely go back/recommend! Hope it's a success for them!!!

Convenient stop off near to M1

Barlborough Links Golf Club
A lovely new site with some teething problems they are aware of to be sorted out. There is a footpath across the beautiful golf course and apart from motorway drone in the distance it is pleasant for a one night stop over. There is a 9 hole golf course, football golf, driving range and fishing lake. The hardstanding is actually deep gravel a motorhome sinks into so needs a good bed of hard-core. They have plans to fix that. I don't think awning pegs would hold at all in it but it wouldn't be a site for a long stay unless you fish or play golf! One pitch needs a very long electric cable. The loo is in a container converted and is basic. The door remained blown open so rain was making the floor and loo roll very wet in the daytime. A catch or spring on the door would easily fix that. The chemical loo emptying point is at the back of one pitch so could be a nuisance if it gets smelly. Not a problem to us. The water was not accessible for motorhome filling unless you've got a very long hose. Fine for filling containers. Having said all of that it was a lovely convenient stop off on our journey. The people were very friendly and surprised how busy they are after only recently opening so it will all get sorted soon I'm sure.
