Why stay here ...

Bassettwood Farm is located in a very quiet area with lovely views on the edge of the picturesque village of Tissington, in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. We have 2 hard standings in a separate area away from the main field in a small fenced off paddock. Tissington is close to the market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, the popular village of Alstonefield, Dovedale, Ilam, Milldale, Hartington, Carsington Water (ideal for fishing and sailing) and the Manifold Valley.

Lynn and Gavin welcome you to Bassettwood and guests are encouraged to enjoy the many scenic walks or the 20 mile long Tissington Trail for walking and cycling. Enjoy the peacefulness and see beautiful sunrises and amazing sunsets. B & B accommodation is available at Bassettwood Farm House. Our Breakfast room is available for pre-booked breakfasts.

Bassettwood farm is an ideal base for a short break or longer holiday. The Historic market town of Ashbourne is only a 6 minute drive away. Tissington Hall is just a short stroll from the farm.

At Bassettwood we are involved in the design and creation of one of the wells for the annual Tissington well dressing which takes place for a week in May every year.

Tissington is one of the prettiest villages in this area of the Peak and is also a convenient point of access to the Tissington Trail. It is therefore a popular place on a summer weekend.

The village lies just off the main Buxton-Ashbourne road and has been the estate village of the FitzHerbert family since the 1460s, whose hall erected in 1609, stands in the centre of the village. The village is delightfully laid out with plenty of space and buildings which were mostly erected in the early 19th century. It has an imposing southern approach via a grand gateway and an avenue of lime trees.

Tissington, based in the Peak District, Derbyshire is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK.

Tissington village is home to a wonderful range of shops and businesses which include a popular tea room, craft shop, butchers and candle shop.

Nearby, within under an hour's drive you will find Haddon Hall, Ilam Hall, Chatsworth House, Sudbury Hall, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall and the lovely, traditional market town of Bakewell, famed for its Bakewell Tart.

For the children (and adults!) Alton Towers, Carsington Water, Go Ape! and Gullivers Kingdom are all within easy reach by car.

If you love cycling there are miles and miles of traffic free and family cycle routes, noteably the Tissington Trail which can be found 2 minutes from the farm. Bicycles can be hired from Ashbourne Cycle Hire in the centre of the town.

1st Cl

Bassettwood Farm
Stayed here for a week back in August 2022 and it was my first ever CL stay! It has completely changed the type of sites i look at and book. The site is quite, lovely large pitches and on a walking path which leads to both Tissington and Ashbourne. Everything was very clean, pitches were separated by the longer grass and you are nowhere near any main roads making it very peaceful. Perfect for those wanting to bike on the Tissington Trail and also those looking to go hiking as there are some excellent trails nearby ! One i will definitely look to return to in the future

Fabulous CL

Bassettwood Farm
Just had a weekend stay on this CL - absolutely wonderful, wish we could have stayed longer... We were in a decent size field on grass pitches - grass kept cut short with uncut sections between pitches which we thought was a nice touch. Excellent views and extremely quiet. Grey waste, chemical toilet disposal and rubbish/recycling bins tucked away behind a screen and within easy reach of all pitches. Access is straightforward via a single track lane with wide verges making passing easy - a few minutes into Ashbourne which is a lovely little town to wander around. Bit further to Bakewell which offers more facilities but is always very busy. Another great CL to add to our list of ones to return to!

Excellent site, in a beautiful location.

Bassettwood Farm
We as a family of 4 (2 adults, and 2 children) stayed here for 8 nights during the school summer holidays in August. Our welcome from the proprietor of the site, Gavin was very nice. We were directed to a small separate field with two hardstanding pitches in it, we had this to ourselves for the whole stay. The whole site is very well kept, the WC, grey waste and elsan point all in good order and clean. The recycling facilities are also well organised and regularly emptied. There is an abundance of traffic free, family cycling from this site, and the local village of Tissington is lovely and quiet, and generally has a feeling of being super safe. The local town of Ashbourne is worth a visit at the end of the Tissington trail (easy access from the site), there are plenty of dining and shopping options here. Overall this location will suit many different holiday requirements. We will return in future.

Super CL

Bassettwood Farm
Lovely CL waking up to the morning birdsong. Well laid with plenty of space on your pitch. Very clean and tidy, grass kept like a lawn. Plenty of walks for your dog and you. Easy going if your disabled. Would l recommend this CL......yes. Found the owners very accommodating and helpful. (Trevor Fry and Pam Dare)
