Why stay here ...

Vera Williamson and her husband Joe are the new owners of Old Kiln Farm CL, Allonby. As it is a working farm you can spend the day watching sheep and lambs in the fields next to the site.

The site is only 100 metres from a sandy beach and set in a quiet position with views of the Scottish hills and skiddaw. A mile away is the rural seaside village of Allonby, which has 2 pubs (pet friendly), tea rooms, a takeaway cafe (open daily) and the very popular ice cream shop. The Manor (10 minute walk from site) has food and entertainment every weekend and is pet friendly.

Small boats can be launched from the beach and there is fishing available nearby. Golf, horse riding, cycle hire and clay pigeon shooting (see owners) and many more available within Allonby or Silloth.

Easy access to all amenities and very central to explore the Solway coast and the Lake District. Silloth (5 miles), Maryport (6 miles), Workington (11 miles), Keswick/Carlisle (23 miles).

Great site, lovely owners

Booked this site on Thursday evening to visit Friday, as a last minute weekend away in the camper. The weather was wild and woolly but Vera gave us a warm welcome. The site is close to the beach, and the views were amazing. We had a lovely couple of days... Show more

A gem on the Solway Coast

Situated a mile from Allonby on England Coastal Path which is currently undergoing major improvements. Site has amenity block with showers and toilets. You back onto fields which had sheep and lambs during our visit. Very quiet and peaceful but easy walk into Allonby which takes about 30 minutes. 5... Show more

Lovely Quiet and Peaceful Site...But...

Lovely site But... we didn't know about the Strict No Groundsheet Rule. I only ever use the CAMC App for searching CL sites and it didn't state the rule about this on there. Nor was it mentioned when booking or when we arrived when talking to the owner, I only... Show more

Gem of a site

Lovely site, in fact our favourite site. 100 meters from a great beach, ideal for paddle boarding & kayaking when the tide is in. Ideal for dog walking. Perfectly located to visit Allonby, Silloth, Cockermouth & Keswick. An easy walk into the quintessential Allonby village which has a shop, chip shop,... Show more

Windy Allonby

Arrived in lashing rain. Basic CL but easy to find. Beach shingle and sand some parts easier to walk than others. Allonby very run down and Maryport/Silloth not much better. Both struggling with empty premises etc. the winds were unbelievable all week obviously not there fault. Vera was very friendly.... Show more
