Kirkby Lonsdale Certificated Locations
The small town of Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the South Lakeland region of the English county of Cumbria, right on the River Lune.
It's enormously popular with holidaymakers because there's lots to do, whether you want long country walks along undisturbed bridleways, tricky cycling trails or quaint independent shops.
There are many historic buildings in Kirkby Lonsdale, including the Norman St Mary's Church. The view from the graveyard was known to be a favourite of naturalist John Ruskin and is commemorated in a painting by JM Turner.
It's also worth checking out Devil's Bridge, a scheduled ancient monument. Legend has it that the devil built it in exchange for the first soul to cross it, but an old woman outwitted him by enticing a dog across it before any people. It's now possible to partake in some excellent scuba diving underneath it.
Within the town, there is a range of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants along the pretty streets and a packed calendar of events, including a regular market and the Victorian Fair in the first weekend of September.
