Situated on the edge of the Lake District, Cockermouth in Cumbria is a designated Gem town due to its array of historic buildings and preserved street plan.
The town is best known as the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth, and the Georgian Home where he was born is now a National Trust property. Other highlights include Cockermouth Castle, Jennings Brewery, the Banks Museum and the Memorial Gardens.
