Stockton-on-Tees Certificated Locations

The County Durham town of Stockton-on-Tees has a fascinating history of shipbuilding and was the site of George Stephenson’s first railway, which connected the town to Darlington.

Today, it has a thriving cultural scene, complete with theatres and recording studios, which helps to nurture new talent, especially in the area of music.

Visitors can walk the pathways that trace the River Tees through the town or explore it by bike. Several crossing points can be seen, including the undulating arcs of the Infinity Bridge.

Ropner Park retains its Victorian feel despite a renovation in 2007. Live music is performed each Sunday afternoon in the park’s bandstand.
