Why stay here ...

Want to visit Chester? Our beautifully-kept lawn site is only 6 miles away from Chester City Centre. We are situated in Dunham-on-the-Hill, which is a small, quiet, historic, conservation village. It's the perfect place to relax after a day's shopping at Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village or a visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium. Both are just 5 miles down the road.

If you love animals, Chester Zoo is a short drive away, as is the internationally renowned Shire Horse Centre and Country Park at Cotebrook. There's a convenient Park and Ride service from here.

Buses run to and from Chester every half hour. There's a stop 50 yards from our site. Other local attractions include The Salt Museum, The Anderton Boat Lift and The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port.

The famous Chester Rows, some of which date back to the 13th century, provide a unique shopping experience: there's nothing remotely similar to the Rows anywhere else in the world. To follow in older footsteps, the Roman Walls provide fantastic views of the Chester's Roman Amphitheatre, the Welsh Mountains, the River Dee, and the oldest racecourse in the country: the Roodee. This vibrant racing venue also hosts concerts, chariot racing on Chester Roman Day, and polo matches where you might be lucky enough to spot Prince William amongst the players.

Chester's medieval architectural jewel is the cathedral which dates from 1093 and contains beautiful examples of stained glass, mosaics, and medieval carvings. The cloisters from the original monastery are popular with tourists, as is the only surviving consistory court in the country which dates from the 1630s.

Our site is just 1.5 miles from junction 14 of the M56 which gives easy access to Liverpool, The Wirral, and North Wales.

Liverpool's Albert Dock plays host to Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum.  If you're a slave to shopping, Liverpool One provides world class shopping and a wide choice of restaurants.

Port Sunlight, and the Lady Lever Art Gallery are in nearby Wirral. If you want to take the train to Liverpool or Wirral, the Merseyrail service runs every half an hour from Chester Railway Station.

North Wales is within easy reach from our site. Llandudno and Llangollen take about 45mins by car.

Please note: this site is 15 miles away from Warrington.

We are sorry but electric cars cannot be charged on this CL.

Very peaceful

We have just returned from 2 nights and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The entrance is just off the main Chester road and does come up quite quickly. The site is a gently sloping area with very lush grass, you will need levelling blocks but it’s not too steep. 10amp... Show more

Okay for day trips

Short stay in July. In fact, it feels like you are staying in the back garden of the very kind and helpful Mr. and Mrs. Lyon. Fine if you plan excursions (to Chester or Liverpool). No seperate wc and shower (coins). It is up to the guests to keep it clean and so... Show more

Nice but a little noisy

I found it difficult to give an overall rating because I wanted to give it 3.5 but obviously that is not an option, 3 is too low but 4 is perhaps a bit generous as it is quite noisy. The location is lovely plus its great for visiting the local... Show more

NOISY SITE

No one was there when I arrived and the amenities were difficult to find. Basically, you are just in a field next to a main road and the traffic noise was too much for me. Had the worst night's sleep of my whole trip because of it. Would not stay... Show more
