Chatteris is an historic town that offers 'big sky' views over the flat Fenland countryside. Quiet and idyllic, it has its own museum charting a history dating back several centuries.
The area is excellent for peaceful walking, although for those who like their leisure to be very adventurous, it is also the home of the North London Skydiving Centre.
At the same time, Chatteris makes a great base for exploring the Fens and the nearby cities, be it the myriad historic colleges in Cambridge, or the impressive cathedrals of Ely and Peterborough. To the west, by the A1M, lies the village of Stilton - the birthplace of one of Britain's most famous cheeses.
