Why stay here ...

The 5 pitch CL site is situated in an enclosed and peaceful location, within the 5 lake fishery, Rookery Waters. We first opened in 2003 to help diversify our small arable and beef farm. Since then we have complimented the existing environment by planting hundreds of trees, miles of hedging and creating reed bed conservation areas around the fishery and on the 230 acre farm. Our reed bed next to the CL is registered with the British Trust for Ornithology and has had a monthly bird count for the last three years.

The nearest village, Pidley, is 2 miles and it is 8 miles to the historic market town of St Ives.

Each caravan/motorhome pitch has a hard, level gravel standing with large grass area, with ample room for a car and awning. There is a pedestal electric hook-up with light and fresh water supply. The site overlooks the well-established Rook Lake and stunning views of the countryside.

There are miles of bridle and foot paths for walking and cycling. Next to the site is a conservation reed bed wetland area, where many rare birds come for the summer to breed. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Please be respectful of the site and keep your dog under close supervision.

CL not open all year

Just a note, despite saying this CL is open all year, this is not the case. Site is shut until April 2025.

Lovely CL

Rookery Waters is a lovely CL. Great for beautiful surrounding countryside, whilst overlooking a smashing fishing lake. There's plenty of room around each of the 5 x gravelled pitches which are fully serviced. You can use the toilets in the cafe during opening hours, which are fine, but... Show more

Lovely peaceful site

We stayed at the site for one night after leaving another site that was so disappointing. So pleased that we moved, and chose this place. Finished stay with a lovely cooked breakfast in the cafe/bar. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone!!

Not only for fishing!

Just had a very restful stay here. Perfect for us. Decent hardstandings, great views front and rear of surrounding countryside and the lake. Good walking on footpaths direct from the site. Great breakfast in the on-site cafe. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Looking forward to another stay in warmer weather... Show more

1st Class cl

Stayed at this cl twice now and not disappointed. Becky and the team are just great. The cl is down a track but plenty of passing places. Each pitch has plenty of room, fishing peg in front of pitch for a small daily fishing fee. The surroundings are peaceful and... Show more

Excellent CL - everything you need and want

Spent our first night here - excellent all the way through. Warm welcome from Becky and the team, with a good briefing about the CL, facilities and the surroundings and a welcome folder that includes a local OS map for walks - a really nice touch. The CL pitches are... Show more

What a find!

This relatively new 5CL is a real gem. If you are looking for peace and tranquility within a wildlife oasis amongst the fenland agriculture then this is the one for you. Clair and her team gave us the warmest of welcomes and nothing is too much trouble. The five pitches... Show more

Beautiful, scenic, relaxing with nature. Great fishing too!

A wonderful secluded area with beautiful views and nature all around. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Our own fishing peg by the pitch, caught a lovely selection of fish including carp around 7lbs. We spent most of our time fishing but had intended to cycle on the many foot paths around the area. Fabulous breakfasts... Show more

Peaceful site with in the middle of the fens

We booked Rookery Waters as a stopping off place on the way to Suffolk but it was such a lovely peaceful site with plenty to see locally that we stayed for the week. James and Clare have made a lovely job of laying out the site around one of the fishing... Show more
