Go Ape - Wendover
UK's No.1 Forest Adventure. Fly down zip-wires, leap off swings and tackle crossings across amazing scenery.
View and BookShower and toilet facilities are available for Members but these are not exclusive to Club Members as they are shared with boat owners using the Marina. There is a commercial site adjacent to the CL.
The CL site at Grove Lock Marina, owned by Pridewater Estates Ltd, located close to Leighton Buzzard on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border, is popular with Club members many of whom have paid return visits on numerous occasions.
The site is set in 10 acres of beautifully landscaped and planted meadow land overlooking a small and exclusive marina on the Grand Union canal beside the lock and the excellent and very popular pub that share the same name. There is a secure entrance gate and beyond a gravelled road leading to level grass pitches, widely spaced for comfort and privacy, each equipped with a bollard supplying electricity and water. Club members share modern and spotlessly clean showers and toilets with the boat owners and have use of a food preparation area at the end of the facilities building located beside the wharf. There is an Elsan unit close to the wharf as well as waste disposal bins.
The site is dotted throughout with seating areas and fixed barbecues that all are free for anyone to use. On cooler days visitors might well find a wood fire burning in a covered area with bench seating at one end of a building near the caravan pitches, making it a popular meeting place for a drink and a chat. During the day there is plenty of space to relax outside, for ball games or to walk the dog. TV reception is good and the site offers a free Wi-Fi connection. Visitors are allowed everywhere in the marina other than on the gated pontoons where over fifty colourful narrow boats and the wider Dutch barges are berthed. However, a path alongside the pontoons allows walkers a good view of all the very photogenic craft on display.
There is a caretaker on site daily between March and October to take your booking, welcome you when you arrive, direct you to your pitch and answer any questions you may have. As we place emphasis on security you will be given a returnable key that unlocks the toilets and showers as well as the main gates allowing access to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Attractions nearby include Bletchley Park where the code for the German Enigma machine was broken in the Second World War, Whipsnade Zoo, cycle trails along the canal towpath, nature reserves and much more. Our caretaker will be pleased to provide directions for these as well as for local shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways. Please note there is no public transport nearby.
Grove Lock Marina is very heavily booked over the summer months so we suggest you make your reservation as early as possible by telephoning or emailing.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of the most popular CL sites in the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire area very soon.

This is situated next to a B road but sounded like an A road as very busy. Main train line ensured no peace at all. Added to that a wedding next to the facilities block with Music until midnight. The shower facilities need cleaning but the shower was hot. Pub was okay but... Show more

Had a 2 night stay. Was put in the private site as the CL was full. Sloping grass pitches but countryside view and can watch and hear the main line trains. No view of the actual canal. Grass very long and needed cutting as shoes got soaked in the morning... Show more

Nice convenient location, generous spacing between pitches. The site has great potential but needs to improve in two areas. Firstly , the 5 shower room units each including wc and wash basin in the modern facilities block are spacious and well designed. However, they did not appear to have... Show more

Stayed on private site as CL side fully booked and only separated by fence. Share facilities, entrance etc with CL and marina. Shower block potentially good and no issue with queuing but daily cleaning seemed lacking. Extremely close to West Coast mainline railway, with trains every few minutes but these did... Show more

Shame about the noise of road and trains resulting in very disturbed sleep. On the plus side, this was a spacious site with a nice canalside location and adjacent pub. They had several good, spacious showers. Grass could be better kept as, after a night of rain, it was difficult... Show more

Stayed in Sept, the second Pridewater Estates marina we have stayed at. Lovely location, great for Bletchley Park. Facilities kept spotless and plenty of room around pitches. Controlled access which is a good thing though you were issued with a key which also gave foot access to towpath. Visited local pub... Show more
