Edinburgh Club Campsite is an ideal location for your holiday getaway. Situated on the Firth of Forth, the caravan park provides easy access to Edinburgh, Europe's festival capital. You will be ideally located for the many attractions, both modern and historic, that this beautiful city has to offer.

Edinburgh is a friendly, cosmopolitan city. Edinburgh Club Campsite puts you within easy reach of some of its most famous landmarks. You can visit the castle which clings dramatically to a huge rock face (home to the Scottish Crown Jewels), walk down the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyrood House (the King's official Scottish residence), stroll past the historic Scottish Parliament Building or enjoy the tranquil green expanse of Princes Street Gardens. The caravan site location also ensures that you're well placed for the famously fun summer festivals, seaside strolls, a round or two of golf, Edinburgh Zoo and an almost unlimited choice of restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues.

The site is only a stone’s throw away from the waterfront where campers can walk along the promenade of Cramond and, only a short drive away, visitors can enjoy the popular coastal suburb of Portobello with its pubs, restaurants and shops.

A disappointing visit.

Edinburgh Club Campsite
The site seemed well maintained and looked after. It was clean and tidy and the pitches were large. Upon arrival we were told that one of the toilet/shower blocks was closed for refurbishment which resulted in over capacity in the morning resulting in us having to use our own facilities. The toilet block doors also had key pad locks which I found very strange. We were also alarmed by the references in the site literature to security for bicycles. This along with the locks on the facility doors made us feel uncomfortable as there was no visible security at the site entrance other than the barrier. The noise of aircraft was also a bit disturbing but thankfully it eased off during the night. Parking in Edinburgh is extortionate (£28 for 4 hours) so we were advised to use public transport. Unfortunately the bus stop was over half a mile away and my wife was unable to walk that distance. Luckily I discovered free parking at the Royal Yacht Britannia attraction and we were able to catch a tram into the city centre. This is one of the most expensive sites we have ever stayed on and will certainly not be using it again.

Disappointed

Edinburgh Club Campsite
Firstly, I'd like to say the site was very well maintained and looked after. It was clean and tidy and the pitches were large. The staff were friendly and helpful. However.... On approach to the caravan site, it looks like you were driving into a building site. The checking in process was mismanaged, there should be a person outside by the gates to direct people and traffic. Vehicles were queueing up into the road and despite the signs clearly stating to remain with your vehicle until you get to the front of the queue, people just take no notice of them! So apart from the queue of vehicles, you also had a queue of people who had blatantly ignored the instructions! Pitches aren't allocated, so you have to drive around looking for a vacant pitch then return to the office, and queue again, to tell them which pitch you're on and receive your barrier card. At night time, the road at the front of the site is used as a race track with cars razzing up and down well into the early hours. Just around the corner, within 100 yards, what is listed as a hotel, looks more like a homeless/rehabilitation hostel with people walking up and down the road and around the caravan site with no evidence of any security. Directly on the flight path for Edinburgh airport, which we sort of got used to but far from a quiet and peaceful place. The footpath to the bus stop was closed for construction, making the walk all the way around the road, very long. About 25 minutes! Although we were aware of one of the toilet/shower blocks being closed for refurbishment, the other block was quite a distance from us. There were only 4 toilets and 4 showers for the whole site of 149 pitches and one of those toilets was out of order! We ended up just using our own. All in all, not a great experience and won't be returning!

Enjoyable

Edinburgh Club Campsite
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time during our three-day stay at the campsite, despite the rainy weather. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable, and the shower blocks were clean, adding to our overall satisfaction with the facilities. Additionally, we appreciated the convenience of being just a pleasant 10-minute walk away from the sea and the option of taking a 10-minute walk to catch a bus directly into the city for a reasonable fare of £4 per couple. You need to book well in advance to get into the castle!

Great site & great location

Edinburgh Club Campsite
We stayed here for 4 nights from 11 June 2024 and really enjoyed it. The site is very clean as was the toilet block, although with one block closed & being refurbished, the remaining block was busy at peak times and sometimes has to wait. Staff were great too, full of information and places to visit. Just be aware of the main roads into the site, they are in a terrible state of dis-repair and so many bad patches and pot holes. (not the clubs fault) We visited Edinburgh for a day, where we decided to use an uber cab as the weather wasn't the best and picked up from out side the entrance was a little over £12 and dropped of at Edinburgh Castle, great value I thought as the driver was giving us a commentary on everything as we travelled. We also enjoyed watching the aeroplanes coming into land from our pitch, to the nearby airport, which did not bother us at all although I have read some negatives on this, the noise wasn't bad in our opinion, (& we live relatively in the countryside) overall we loved it here and would not hesitate to return. Do follow the directions to the site as listed, as I believe its the only way in.

nice clean site

Edinburgh Club Campsite
we stayed here for a week so our first time in this area while we visited Edinburgh. Site was half closed due to refurbing a toilet block but we knew that when we booked. The toilet block that was accessible was nice and clean. Very well kept site. Bus not to far from site to go into Edinburgh, also park and ride which we used but that was further out. The roads are dreadful, full of potholes which put us off driving in and around the areas.
