Your caravan is your home-away-from-home and the sensible thing to do is protect it in the same way you would with your house. Cover is an important thing to consider to ensure your caravan is protected from things like accidental damage, flooding, theft, etc.

Why do you need Caravan Cover?

Simply put, for peace of mind! Much like home insurance, Caravan Cover isn’t a legal requirement. Even if you have car insurance (which is required by law), if you choose not to take out caravan cover, the financial loss you could suffer if you’re involved in an accident could be huge. You won’t be covered for the damages incurred to the caravan, only the car unless you have caravan cover, which would mean paying to fix or replace your caravan. Even what appears small damage can be a significant cost as often small damage requires whole panels to be replaced.

Also, although your car insurance should cover any liability that falls on you while the caravan is attached to the towing vehicle, once detached any damage to property or injury to a person as a result of your ownership and/or use of the caravan would be your responsibility. While these types of claims are rare they have the potential to be incredibly costly, which is why we protect our members by providing liability cover up to £5m.

On top of the risk of damage from an accident and liability claims, damages could also be incurred as a result of natural hazards like hail and flooding, an attempted break-in, fire, and there's also the risk of your van being stolen. Caravan cover would give you protection and peace of mind.

What does our Caravan Cover, actually cover?

The level of protection that you choose is entirely up to you, there are basic options that protect you from floods and/or damage and/or fire, and you can build it up after that. These are the elements of cover people would normally choose to opt for to ensure they do not suffer financial loss.

A choice of cover to either replace the caravan as new or at its second-hand value
Contents cover (choose how much cover you need based on the value of your contents)
Accidental damage cover for when you're towing.

How to cut the cost of Caravan Cover?

To save money and reduce your outgoings, one thing you could do is increase the excess - we offer a maximum of £500 excess. As you take on more risk with a higher excess and therefore small claims that cost the same amount to process aren't covered, your contribution will reduce.

Be a safe driver and try not to make claims and you're rewarded with no claims discounts.

If you have a no claims discount with your current provider (or the last provider, if less than two years ago) we will also give you a discount and can give a discount based on previous towing experience even if you've not had cover yourself before. Discounts are also given for security and safety devices. There are discounts available for the fitting of the following security and/or safety devices

Alarms (tilt sensor or corner steady sensor)
Tracking Devices (Tracker, Phantom other Sold Secure/Thatcham Approved)
Al Ko/BPW Wheel Lock
Storing the caravan in Cassoa Gold or CAMC storage

Why should I get Caravan Cover?

Simply put, for peace of mind! Your caravan is most likely to be one of the most valued things you own. Which means, if your caravan was stolen or damaged, you could be left with a large financial loss, for either repairs or buying a replacement. Plus there is a risk of public liability claims. Car insurance can cover liabilities caused while towing, but once your caravan is detached any damage to property or injury to a person as a result of your ownership/use of the caravan would be your responsibility. Caravan and equipment sums covered

Our Super Cover automatically covers vans on a new for old basis up to 15 years. Standard cover provides new for old cover up to 5 years old. In both cases this will only apply if the sums covered when the cover taken out at new business or renewal was the accurate new for old replacement value. Otherwise the maximum pay out will be the sums covered limit.

The cost of equipment is any non-standard fixtures, fittings or accessory added after manufacture e.g awnings full or porch, motor movers, Aquaroll, wastemaster, caravan covers, batteries, gas bottles, generators, refrigerators, security devices, stabilisers.

How can I amend/renew my Caravan Cover?

Renew your Cover - You can renew your Caravan Cover and update your renewal payment method for example, by going to 'My Profile' and then clicking on 'My Cover'. Please read through your renewal invitation thoroughly. If you cannot see an option to renew, this could mean that you're on a continuous payment authority, so please check your cover documents.
