Dog-Friendly Days Out

No need to miss out on Great Savings if you tour with your dog. Andrew Ditton explains.

Summer’s here! Staying with the Club in your caravan, camper van, or motorhome remains the number one holiday choice of dog lovers everywhere. No kennel fees, no separation anxiety, and you get to spend your happiest times with your best friend.

Andrew's trusty companion, Dougall, having a well-earned snooze.

Does this mean you miss out on the Club’s Great Savings Guide offers? Not a bit.

You don’t need me to tell you that dogs should not be left behind in your van or car, especially in the summer.

It’s not just the outdoor places listed in the Great Savings Guide that welcome dogs. Many of the attractive places to eat and drink also welcome four-legged friends, such as the Kinlochewe Hotel or the Cotswold Arms in Burford.

Steam train at East Lancashire Railway

My favourite listings in the guide are the heritage railways. My dog Dougal always accompanies me on a chuffing good day out riding behind a steam locomotive. We never miss the stunning Strathspey Railway when staying at Grantown-on-Spey. One of my favourite Club Sites remains Burrs Country Park, which has its own dedicated station on the East Lancashire Railway. It’s a delightful way to reach neighbouring Bury or Ramsbottom before enjoying a walk back to the site.

Dogs AND special offers. What’s not to like? Happy touring!
