Buying a car, caravan or motorhome
We've created a range of helpful guides to take you through all the essentials before commiting to a purchase.
Find out moreHelpful tips and advice on manoeuvring your motorhome to help you avoid any mishaps and costly accidents.
Whatever the size of your motorhome, manoeuvring or parking whether it’s on your driveway, on the road or on a campsite, is not always easy and so getting practice in really can help. If you’re able to spend some time practising in an empty car park or on a quiet road, before heading off on your trip, it will help build your confidence when you’re out on the road.
Unfortunately, we do see a number of incidents on our UK Club campsites every year due to bad parking or ill-judged manoeuvring techniques. Even if the minor damage is covered by your motorhome or campervan insurance, it can impact your current and future trips with the repairs that will need to be carried out.
If you don't already have your motorhome or campervan insurance with the Club, we now have Defaqto's motorhome comparison and campervan comparison tool on our web pages to help you see how our cover compares with other providers' products. Click the drop-down feature to choose your motorhome or campervan insurance provider and then compare it to the Club’s.
If you’re new to driving a motorhome or want to refresh your skills, the Club offers a motorhome-specific training course at 16 locations across the UK. The course offers practical advice and instructions on safety techniques. You’ll learn in small groups with plenty of practising and feedback from a one-to-one session, all taught by our encouraging, expert instructors who are also Club members. The course has been given the highest score on Trustpilot, 5 out of 5 Excellent score, by those who took the motorhome training course last year so you know it will be money well spent.
The Motorhome Manoeuvring course is a six-hour one-day course, costing £218 per person, and is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced motorhome drivers. It will help build your confidence and it covers everything a motorhome driver really needs to know.
Once you have completed a Club training course, you’ll receive a free copy of the Club’s Essential Guide to Touring, which normally costs £16. It is jam-packed with lots of useful information and helpful advice including practical and legal aspects on the road to care and maintenance.
You can also get a 5% discount when taking out or renewing the Club’s Motorhome Insurance and/or Car Insurance, with proof of course completion.
