Book nowThe seas that surround the UK are home to over half our wildlife – more than 30,000 species. It also contributes to flood management and water purification, as well as providing oxygen for every breath we take. Suffice to say that it is important for us all to continue to look after our coastlines and the creatures that inhabit it, especially given that you’re never more than 70 miles from the coastline.
Running from 23 July to 7 August, National Marine Week is The Wildlife Trusts’ nationwide celebration of all things marine. Despite its name, it last for 15 days to give us all the chance to celebrate the wonderful wildlife found in the seas around the UK. The Wildlife Trust will be holding sea-themed events across the country for you to enjoy during this time. We’ve compiled a few suggestions of places to visit, that as a Caravan and Motorhome Club member, you can save money with discounts through the Great Savings Guide. Here’s a few of them:
Known for rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned or injured seal pups from the local beaches, visitors to Natureland can see these gorgeous sea animals at various stages of rehabilitation from arriving at the Seal Hospital through to the rearing pool where they putting on weight so they can get ready for their release back home. Go and visit the penguins, meerkats, tropical butterflys, reptiles, sheep, goats and alpacas in Pets Corner, the beautiful tropical fish in the Aquarium and enjoy the resident adult seals showing off to visitors during feeding times! Stay at Skegness Sands Club Campsite
Head out on a voyage and relish the opportunity to try out classic Tall Ship sailing.
