From pitching your tent to working out what gear you need to bring with you, there's a lot to think about. Planning your trip
The key to a successful camping trip is good forward planning. Before you book your camping holiday, consider who is coming with you and whether the area you’re looking to camp has all the facilities you’ll need. You’ll find a variety of child-friendly playgrounds on many of our sites for example, perfect for keeping the kids busy on a sunny afternoon.
Gaining confidence
Before you head out in the tent for the first time, have a test camp in your back garden. Not only will this help you familiarise yourself with putting up and pitching the tent, you'll also make sure that you've packed everything you need for your trip - we've put together a handy list of camping essentials to get you started. You could also try camping at a local campsite on your first trip away to give you a bit of peace of mind.
