Accessibility statement

At the Caravan & Motorhome Club, we’re passionate about creating an inclusive environment and ensuring that our websites and digital tools are accessible to as many people as possible.

This accessibility statement is for https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/.

We’re currently in the process of reviewing and updating our entire website to ensure that, in the future, it complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, from both a codebase and content perspective.

Each area of our organisation which publishes content on www.caravanclub.co.uk/ is dedicated to ensuring compliance with accessibility regulations.

What is WCAG 2.2 AA?

The abbreviation (WCAG), stands for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These are a set of guidelines and requirements for content editors, designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. The guidelines define three levels of conformity – Level A, Level AA and Level AAA, with Level A being the lowest, and Level AAA being the highest level of conformity. The guidelines cover a wide range of accessibility features, including text size and colour, keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility.

How accessible is our website today?

Our website is currently partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. But we acknowledge that there is room for improvement and recognise the opportunity to do better.

We have an ongoing programme of activities aimed at enhancing our accessibility for everyone. While we're working hard to ensure the accessibility of our site, we are actively exploring and resolving a number of known limitations.

Today, this means that most users of our website should, at the very least, be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300%, without encountering critical problems
  • increase the font size where required
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard, and skip through navigation items
  • use some of the website with the aid of a screen reader.

Adapting your experience to your needs

We want everyone to have a great experience while using our website, but you may find that changing the settings on your computer will help tailor that experience to suit your individual needs.

If you encounter any issues while using the site, you can report them to us. You can also get support and guidance on accessing the wide range of accessibility and personalisation tools built into computers, tablets, and mobile phones via My Computer My Way, a free resource that helps you customise your computer to make it easier to use. This resource will help make it easier for you to use all websites, not just ours.

We don’t provide built-in accessibility tools, as we believe it’s better to support everyone’s personal device settings and assistive technologies.

Improvements

We are committed to the continual improvement of the accessibility of our website. We achieve this by:

  • performing regular accessibility audits and checks
  • talking to our members and customers, and using what they tell us to improve our services
  • keeping up to date with the latest best practices and evolving standards.

Documents

Downloadable documents, such as PDF files, aren’t always fully accessible. Where possible, we are moving away from using non-accessible PDF formats. In the future we will either make these sort of documents accessible for screen readers, or use a combination of ordinary HTML / web pages supported by PDF documents as required. If you come across any content that you can’t access, then please email us, and we will provide you with an accessible alternative.

Third-party resources

Sometimes we use resources supplied by third parties, such audio and video players which ‘embed’ content in the website. These resources and the way they work are not under our control, so we will always do our best to ensure that they conform with the WCAG standards
