Third time out and we finally hit rain

This story happened on: 25/09/2012

Third time out and we finally hit rain  when packing away the awning. we re visited Cirencester park for the second time as we felt we needed a long weekend from it all. Last minute idea and we were lucky to not only get booked in ,but got our favour pitch. well we had a great time took 2 of our family members as well as the dogs. Friday we arrived and set up, and soon settled down. we decided to go to a local pup to try out the local ale and a little bite to eat. Sat was a glorious day and my son and I went fishing while the girls went for  walk with the dogs and  then to refresh themselves with more than a cup of tea not a good day for the lads, not only did we not catch the moby dick that was in there but found I had a puncture in the rear tyre of the car (great) that night the weather forecast was rain for Sunday. Well you guessed it by the  time  we had relaxed on Sunday morning there was tiny pitter patter of rain on the van , so we rushed out and by the time we had started it was a full downpour and my son and I was soaked as well as the awning.

My question to the experienced ones, how do you dry out the awning when the weather is like it is at present WET. It is out of the van and in the house  but worried it will damage it . Any good ideas ?

The rain has not put us off yet but it does make you think about staying at home. Hopeful for some long dry periods so we can get out  again.

Hope you've had some good weather by now and managed to get the awning spread out in the fresh air, it should be ok if it's not been rolled up wet for too long.

Hi, we were out this weekend too (Chatsworth) and had the awning up on Fri and Sat. Fortunately just the two of us, didn't really need the space and so decided to take it down on Sunday morning before we went out - hurray! Sorry! We usually lay it on the ground or throw it over the washing line - even been known to use the garage floor if it has continued to rain - hmm - sounds like now! Good luck.
